Chapter 6
One by one, they stepped out of the spiral vortex. It was dark all around them except for the sparkling city that glittered brightly in front of them.
Tabitha’s eyes widened, and she smiled as she looked at the beautiful city; she couldn’t wait to see the dazzling place in all its glory. “Silver City,” she whispered.
A beautiful woman with dark red hair walked up to them. “Ms. Warren and guests, welcome to Silver City. My name is Esha; I work with the faction council and will be your entourage during your time here. Once you are checked in and have your things in place, I can give you a tour of our lustrous city and show the younger ones all the hottest spots.” She looked over at Marco and Tabitha and smirked as her eyes glowed yellow.
Marco and Tabitha both were thrown. The woman in front of them didn’t smell like a wolf. They didn’t know what she was.
Esha giggled. “Relax, your senses are working fine. I don’t think you have encountered someone like me,” she explained.
Deak took a deeper whiff, and his eyes darkened. “Siren,” he growled out.
Everyone turned to look at Esha.
Sirens were real?
“He’s right,” Esha informed them.
Gretchen stepped forward, placing herself between the siren and Colson. “So, you can lure people to do whatever you want with the sound of your voice, right?’ she asked.
Esha gave her an alluring smile. “Doesn’t quite work that way, my dear. But I would love to show you if you’d like a demonstration.”
Colson let out a vicious growl as he pulled his mate back behind him. “That’s not necessary.”
Madeline stepped forward and cleared her throat. “If you could show us where we will be staying, I would like to rest for a bit before giving us a grand tour.”
Esha turned and bowed at Madeline. “Of course, Ms. Warren, if you follow me, I have a car waiting to take you to the hotel,” Esha told them before she turned and made her way to the large limo that waited for them.
Tabitha looked at Ruby with shock in her eyes as she mouthed the word “Siren?” to her.
Ruby shrugged and said, “I guess we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
They all laughed as they followed the woman and stepped into the large limo. As they rode through the shining city, Tabitha and Marco looked out the side windows. They hadn’t realized that it had gotten dark so quickly. It was morning when they walked through the portal.
“Why is it already dark outside?” Tabitha asked.
“It’s always nighttime here in Silver City. It’s so the city lights never fade,” Esha explained. “Here, the city never sleeps, and everything always stays open.” She told them as she pulled her phone out to answer it. “Yes, I have our guests, and we are on our way to the hotel. Yes, I will let them know what time the meeting is in the morning. Yes, I will let them know about tonight,” Esha said into the phone before hanging up.
She turned to face them.
“Ms. Reynolds welcomes you to Silver City. The meeting is set for tomorrow morning at eleven in the morning, and there is a party tonight that you have all been invited to attend. It’s a social cocktail party. I can arrange for some dresses to be delivered to the ladies’ room from a selection they can choose for tonight.” Esha suggested.
“That would be lovely. Thank you, Esha,” Madeline told her.
The limo stopped in front of a large and lavish hotel. Esha made her way out of the limo to speak with the attendant.
“Here are your keys for your rooms,” Esha said as she handed a key to each of them.
Vita looked around them and noticed something was missing. “What about our bags? We forgot to take them out of the car before going through the portal.”
“They are en route and will be here shortly. Once they arrive, I will have the attendants bring them to your rooms. Let’s plan to meet back down here in the lobby in two hours if you want to go on the tour.”
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement and headed for the elevator.
“I’ll see you all soon,” Esha cooed as the elevator closed.
She slowly smiled devilishly. She was excited about this group and looked forward to getting to know them better. Esha turned and made her way through the lobby. As she did, she could feel the stares of all the men and women that followed her with their eyes. Esha walked into the small bar and sat on one of the stools at the bar. Bartender walked over with a drink already in hand and placed it in front of Esha. Esha looked up at the handsome bartender. “Thanks, handsome.”
“What brings you here this time, Esha?” he asked.
“We have some visitors in town,” she told him.
“Anything that looks promising?”
Esha picked up her drink and took a sip. She moaned as she enjoyed the taste of the delicious drink she was given. Esha looked up at the bartender and smiled, “I would venture to say yes to that.. Thanks for the drink,” she said as she pulled out a bill and placed it on the bar. “Will you be joining the party later tonight?”
The bartender nodded. “I’ll be there.”
Esha blew a kiss toward him before sliding off the barstool and leaving.
A man was seated at a table near the bar, reading over some documents. He smirked as he watched the woman walk past his table and took a whiff of the air as she passed. A siren, he thought to himself. A siren should make things very interesting.
He pulled out his phone and pressed a name before putting the phone up to his ear. “Yes, your grace.”
“There’s a party later tonight; find out the details for me and send it to me.”
“Yes, your grace.” The gentleman put the phone back into his pocket and continued looking over the documents before him. He then pulled out a surveyor map that showed a bunch of lands and where the lines between packs were drawn. The man sneered at the paper and crumpled it up—damn wolves. They always like to put a damper on his plans. His phone chirped, and he pulled it back out to review the details given to him. He smiled smugly at his phone as he grabbed the glass on the table and finished his drink. He waved for the waitress to come over to him.
“Would you like another one, sir?” the waitress asked as she approached his table.
“Actually, I wouldn’t mind trying something bolder,” he told her.
“I hear the bartender has a strong A negative in stock.”
The man enthusiastically smiled and said, “Make sure it’s in a tall glass, please?”
“Right away, Mr.Vasiliu,” she said with a wink and headed to the bar.
Emil smiled as he watched the waitress walk away; he just needed to wait for the night’s festivities.
