"I have no idea what you're talking about." Enrica glared at him. "Let go of me!"
But Miguel didn't budge. His grip tightened around her wrist. "Don't think you can pull something like this and win me back. We're over. If you're that bitter about it, then go compete with Sheila fair and square. No need to stoop so low!"
Enrica almost laughed out of sheer frustration. Even now, her manners kept her from snapping. She was still clinging to that last shred of dignity. She said, "Miguel, are you deaf or just plain stupid? How many times do I have to say it? I'm done. I've moved on. I don't love you anymore!"
The words "I don't love you anymore" hit him like a punch to the chest. His expression went still, the anger frozen there for a beat.
What did Enrica just say? She didn't love him anymore? That couldn't be right.
Hadn't she always seen him as her way out? Hadn't she been obsessed with him?
Just then, another hand suddenly cut in, forceful and certain, knocking Miguel's hand away
