Lawrence immediately waved his hands, righteously shaking his head. "Ms. Schubert, I'm a lawyer. Doing my best for my client is my duty. Just covering my legal fees is more than enough."
Zayne added, "Honestly, this case was just an excuse to let him get some practice. Winning had nothing to do with us, really. You don't need to feel guilty about keeping the money."
But Enrica did feel guilty. She quickly insisted, "You two were the reason we won. I—"
Before she could even finish, Lawrence cut her off, his expression noble and unwavering. "Ms. Schubert, from the moment I became a lawyer, I dedicated myself to justice. Are you going to taint my ideals with money?"
Enrica panicked. "That's not what I meant…"
Lawrence looked at her earnestly. "Then please, don't insult my dreams with a paycheck. Deal?"
