Chapter 81
KIMBERL'S POV
I was not sure what changed in me perhaps the way Xavier wouldn’t stop teasing me, his wounded hand drooping weakly by his side but all of a sudden I was able to make myself relaxed. Overly serene-- Like my head had flipped a switch I was unaware of.
Xavier arched a brow and his eyes narrowed a bit. His voice soft and controlled, he mused, “You are. . . surprisingly quiet. Are you okay?”
I chose not to reply. Because I didn't want him to find an excuse to tease me again. My hands had been already in motion; faintly shaking fingers grabbed for the button on his dark pants. His short breath caught me, but he did not ask me to stop. He could have felt me. Alternatively, perhaps he was as curious as I was about how far I would go.
With a faint click the button popped free; I would not look him in the eye. I hesitated for a beat too long, my fingers sliding across the frigid metal of the zipper.
"Kimberly," Xavier whispered under duress. “Let me…”
"Don't. " I used strong tones
