Chapter 80
The lovely odor of grape flavored cake hit my nose as I walked into the Ravenwood mansion. As I entered the living room, my eyes fell right on the green grape cake resting tidily on the coffee table, my heels softly echoing on the marble floor. Its shiny finish reflected the light nicely, but I raised my eyebrows as I saw the disturbing emptiness in the room.
Though the house still felt strangely empty, the far-away hum of activity issued from the kitchen pots banging, knives cutting. I peered into the kitchen, where Mr. Linton's dark brown was catching the overhead lights; he was supervising the dinner arrangements.
“Mr. Linton," I softly called out.
Turning, he wrinkled his friendly eyes at the corners. "Ah, Mrs. Ravenwood, you’re back. Dinner is almost finished. ”
"Thanks, but. . . where is Xavier? " I demanded, trying to keep my composure but I was feeling so eager and excited to see him..
His eyebrow arched. “He went upstairs just some minutes ago. He should be in his room.”
