CHAPTER 36 URBAN ESCAPADES
The concierge smiled and nodded, swiftly accommodating Ethan’s request. Keys in hand, they made their way up to the suite, where Ethan paused in front of two doors—one for the suite, and the extra room for Madeleine.
He turned to her, a stoic expression on his face. “Here’s your room, Madeleine. I will be in the suite.”
Madeleine scoffed, though Ethan could see the flash of annoyance in her eyes.
“Ethan, I don’t want to be in a separate room,” Madeleine protested, her voice rising. “I deserve to be with you, not stuck in some other room.”
Ethan held up a hand, his voice firm. “Madeleine, we are here on a business trip, and I’m not going to create a scene. This room is more than comfortable, and it’s for your own privacy. Please be understanding.”
Madeleine huffed, her shoulders tensing. But Ethan, years of dealing with difficult executives under his belt, stood his ground.
