In the shadowy recesses of her dimly lit office, Eleanor sat back in her chair, a cold smile curling on her lips. The room was quiet except for the soft ticking of an antique clock on the wall. She stared at the wall in front of her, lost in dark amusement. Her fingers drummed rhythmically on the armrest of her chair as she thought about the events that had just transpired.
Emily, the only piece of leverage Eleanor had left, was now in a precarious position. Her informant had told her about Rachel’s successful lead to Emily’s location. Eleanor had been prepared. She had instructed her men to administer a memory-loss pill to Emily daily. The last dose had been given just before Rachel, Alexander, and Emma arrived at the warehouse. It was a bitter victory, knowing that Emily’s memories of crucial details would soon fade away.
