Hazel sat on the edge of her couch, absently tapping her fingers on the armrest as she waited for Siobhan to arrive. The events of the day kept replaying in her mind—her time with Rebecca had been revealing, to say the least. She had observed every subtle gesture, every flicker of emotion that crossed Rebecca’s face, analyzing the woman who could be both a potential ally and a formidable adversary. When the doorbell rang, Hazel jumped to her feet, smoothing her dress before opening the door.
Siobhan stepped inside, a warm smile on her face as she tossed her bag onto the couch. “Hey there, what’s got you so worked up?” she teased, noticing Hazel’s slightly anxious demeanor.
Hazel grinned, closing the door behind her. “Just thinking about today. I spent most of it with Rebecca, and I’ve got some observations to share with you.”
