Chapter 63
Marianne.
The hoot of owls and the solemn rays of the moonlight forced me awake from my slumber. The view of the old ceilings was what welcomed me first and Cole’s scent lingering around me made me realize that I was on the same old rickety bed Cole laid on. I sat up on the bed looking around with my mate nowhere to be found.
My head hurts but it aches less compared to how I felt before. My eyes squinted as I massaged my temple and in that moment, the memory of our last conversation struck.
“Damien!” I gasped, my eyes exclaiming in panic. I briskly alighted from the bed and strode out of the room but he was nowhere to be found regardless.
No way Cole deserted me, right? I stepped out of the building.
“Marianne!” He gasped with so much concern printed all over him. There he was by the fireplace roasting meat I heaved a sigh of relief and as I took the first step, he sped up to me. Holding my shoulders and peering deep into my eyes searching for any flaws that might be.
