CHAPTER NINE - LOVE IS A DOUBLE-EDGED BLADE

Aria's heart raced as she entered the school hallway. The memory of Lucas's kiss lingered, making it hard to focus. She spotted him by his locker and quickly ducked into a nearby classroom. "Hey, you okay?" Lucas's voice made her jump. He'd followed her in, concern etched on his face. "I'm fine," Aria lied, avoiding his gaze. Lucas stepped closer. "Did I do something wrong last night? I thought..." Aria sighed. "No, you didn't. It's just... complicated." "Talk to me," Lucas pleaded, reaching for her hand. The warmth of his touch sent a jolt through her. "Lucas, I..." He gently tilted her chin up. "Aria, I like you. A lot. And I thought maybe you felt the same." Aria's resolve crumbled. "I do. That's what scares me." Lucas smiled softly. "Being scared is okay. We can figure this out together." He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. Aria closed her eyes, allowing herself to enjoy the moment. The bell rang, startling them apart. Lucas grinned. "See you at lunch?"
