CHAPTER 16
"So what happened between you two?" Harley asked as they all walked back into the living room where they could finally sit down from all the standing and talking. Hope prompted herself on the couch and sighed as she stretched her arms above her head, releasing the tension on her shoulders while Penelope sat on a single arm chair, glancing at Harley as he sat on the same large couch as Hope.
His eyes scanned her face when she didn't reply immediately to his question, except groan a couple of time with her stretches that didn't seem to come to an end.
"Well." She finally began when she stopped stretching and glanced towards Harley who raised his brows in curiosity, waiting to hear it. "When you left be began thanking me for understanding him and all that. That he was thankful I chose him over you." The moment she said it, Harley clenched onto his jaw as his teeth gritted slightly. "He said he was deeply sorry and that he really loved me from the bottom of his heart. That the other women meant nothing to him."
"I'm sure he says that to all the women he can get his dirty hands on." Penelope rolled her eyes as Harley nodded to Penelope's statement, though trying not to make it obvious that he was against Ronan at all costs.
"Anyway." Hope furrowed her brows at her sister before continuing. "He promised not to do it again and that I was special to him. He said all those kind sweet words I've always wanted to hear from him in a long time and when he did I felt..... I felt like they were complete empty." She frowned and laced her fingers on her laps. "They didn't feel as full as they were supposed to they felt completely empty and I just didn't know what to say or how to react. I loved Ronan, I really did, I mean, I would do anything for him and so much just for him. I became alpha to impress him and become a strong queen in his eyes but he didn't even congratulate me or come see me the least after the feast. Instead he decided to enjoy his last night of freedom. It really hurt me to think that he claimed I was special when I was just a number two." She chewed onto her lower lip, getting Penelope to frown the moment she saw Hope's eyes moisten from the tears she was fighting back. "Made me wonder if I'm special at all."
"Of course you are, Hope." Harley reached out and patted her head slightly as she reached to her eyes and wiped off the tears before they fell. "It's Ronan's fault for not seeing how unique you are." He cooed, as she sighed out shakily and glanced towards Penelope who frowned deeply.
"You're strong, you're beautiful and you've got a stomach made of steel. You hardly let emotions get to you and I really envied that about you." Penelope smiled as she tilted her head to the side a little. "You deserve someone even better, Hope, someone who knows you inside and out and still loves every bit of you, even when you make those stupid decisions. He'll still love the heck out of you." Penelope chuckled as Harley tensed at how obvious she sounded. Obviously talking about him.
"Sadly there's no one who knows me inside and out and would love the heck out of me romantically." Hope sighed as she sunk into the seat, getting Penelope to smack her forehead in frustration at how Hope didn't even get how obvious the answer was.
But that was just Hope, she always acted oblivious when she wanted to.
"Harley knows you inside and out, he even still stays by your side even with your stupid decisions." Penelope just had to say it, knowing Hope was going to dodge the answer if she didn't go straight to the point with it. "He's s perfect fit-"
"Yeah but Harley and I are just best friends." Hope deadpanned as she shot Penelope a glare to which she simply rolled her eyes to. "Besides, Harley said he had a girl waiting on him and that she'll be coming soon. Harley probably loves the heck out of her if he waited this long to wait until she came back." Hope smiled as she glanced to Harley who weakly smiled back at her before looking away.
"Oh, this should be interesting. So who is this girl you're talking about?" Penelope asked as she crossed her legs and raised her brows to Harley who furrowed his brows at her. "Tell us about her, Harley, in detail please and which pack she's from if she has to travel just to get here."
"Why... Would you need to all that?" Harley chuckled nervously as Hope glanced towards him in curiosity, also wondering what she looked like if she stole Harley's heart.
"Come on Harley, it's not like we're going to take her from you, we just want to know who she is." Penelope chuckled out, holding back a laugh as he stared at her with crossed brows.
"Just answer this, is she from this pack?" Hope asked she stared at him while he glanced towards her with a frown. "Come on. As an alpha I'd want to know everyone. Especially my beta's soon-to-be mate right?" She chuckled as she punched Harley's shoulder to which he hardly flinched to.
"She's from this pack." Harley rolled his eyes before covering Hope's mouth before she could ask more. "So, Hope, as we were talking before, not about me but you." He sighed out when Hope peeled his hand from her mouth and frowned at him. "What was the conclusion with Ronan? You just explained about the things he said and how you felt betrayed about them. You didn't really say what you decided."
"Well." Hope cleared her throat and crossed her arms on her chest as she sighed out. "We deiced that it was best if we split out ways and get a divorce."
Both Penelope and Harley who's her a shocked glances to which she sighed out shakily to as she glanced away with a frown on her lips, knowing she didn't want to say it but she still had to. It wasn't anything she would hide for long since it was going to be obvious once they parted way. The entire pack was bound to find out, since she was the new alpha.
Everyone was going to know about it.
