Chapter 2
"Aren't you hungry? I'll go prepare some sandwiches," my mom says. I just nodded and thanked her. My eyes landed on the basket. Should I arrange them now?
I arranged the vegetables in our glass displays and sweep the bits and pieces of soil on the floor. Our small shop is located in our front yard. Our neighbors are used in buying fresh veggies and fruits in our shop. We're organic as coconut and that's why they prefer to buy from us than in the markets.
I can still remember how we built this small shop. I was the one who did all the carpenter work. I had no idea about stuffs like that but I had to pretend that I do because I don't want my mom taking the man job. It was too dangerous for her.
"Reilley!" a small voice called. I looked at my little sister happily.
"Oh hey young lady," I greeted. She walked carefully with her small hands supporting the back of the tray she's holding. "That looks good!" I told her. I accepted the tray and put it on the small table beside me.
"I helped mom make that!" she chirped. I chuckled.
"You did? Wow! You're amazing Eunice," I complimented. She gave me a sweet smile.
"Try it!" she said enthusiastically. I went to the small basin and washed my hands with soap and water. I walked back to my sit and grab the sandwich.
"Is it good?!" she asked excitedly.
"I just touched it. I haven't tried it yet," I said and chuckled. She pouted her lips. I jokingly examined the sandwich with a serious expression.
"Hmmmm... Based on my analytical observation using my sense of sight, the sandwich looks good and appetizing." She stared intently at me with round eyes waiting for the next thing that I'm going to say. I smelled the sandwich seriously. "I smell meat and cheese with tons of greens." I tried to suppressed my laugh because of her serious face.
"The moment of truth," I said and give it a huge bite. "Hmmm..." I moaned. Her eyes twinkled.
"How was it, Reilley?!" she asked. I didn't answer yet and finished chewing my food first. "Reilley! Give me the answer already!" she said impatiently. I chuckled.
"It's good young lady. You're a good cook!" I complimented. She smiled proudly and hugged me.
"Thank you!" she chirped. She pulled herself away from me and looked around the shop. "You should go ahead and finish your food while I work in this shop, okay?" she said like an older sister. I nodded amusedly.
I watch her sweep the floor and arrange the sweet potatoes. She was in the middle of putting the potato in the basket when it rolled out of our shop.
"No!" she squeaked. My eyes widened when she chased the rolling potato. She ran to the road and I've never run so fast to chase her when I saw an incoming car.
"Eunice!" I called loudly and pushed her on the side of the road. I closed my eyes when I saw the car coming towards me.
Am I going to die?
No! I can't die yet. I still need to help my family. I still have a lot of dreams for my family. I still need to—
"Move out of the way faggot!" a deep and angry voice yelled.
I opened my eyes to see a very handsome man in front of me. Oh my gosh. Is this an angel? Am I dead?
I winced when he honked his car several times. That's when I realize that I am not dead and I'm in the middle of the road blocking this gorgeous man's way.
Looking at him, I think I just found myself my ideal man. He is so gorgeous. Those thick brows are hot. His stormy gray eyes are enchanting. That tall and delicate high nose. And his bloody red lips. Gawd...
"Reilley?! Are you okay? Did you hurt?"
I wonder what his name was. His car looked expensive. He looked rich and elite.
"Reilley?!"
The way he gave me those frantically irritated glares. I could melt like an ice cream in front of him. Gosh! I'm so gay for him.
"REILLEY?!!"
I winced when a loud voice called me. It's Eunice. I came back to sense and hugged her while stroking her hair. "I'm fine Eunice. Don't worry about me." Suddenly, the ear-piercing honks were untimely sounded again.
I looked at the man in the car. I see no hint of apology in his eyes. What I see is irritation. Fine, I take back my words that 'I found my ideal man'! His gorgeous appearance was instantly destroyed by his attitude. What a jerk! He almost hit my little sister! I was fumed with anger now.
I settled Eunice at the safe place and walked toward his car furiously. He slowly rolled down his window after I tapped on the window several times.
"What?" He turned and stared at me.
What! He dared to ask me what! Wasn't he realized what he had done to me and my sister?!
His gaze wandered on my face, which made me couldn't stop blushing. God, Reilley, wake up! You're here to teach him a lesson!
I took a deep breath and screwed up my courage, reaching into the car and grabbing his collar with both hands to pull him out the window. I threatened him in a shaky voice. "I...I warn you. You almost hit my sister. Right now...You...you get out of the car and apologize to us!"
I let go of my hand after finishing my words and was ready to open the door to let him get out of the car, but to my surprise he suddenly grabbed my hand tighter and pulled me over. His lips were so close to my ear that I even felt his hot breath on the tip of my ear. "Apologize? Your sister was running toward my car on her own!"
I stared at him, nose-to-nose. Looking at his face up close, my heart thumped wildly and my face was burning.
Oh my Gosh, he was so handsome. I momentarily forgot what I was going to say.
"Do you enjoy what you're looking at? Faggot?" He sneered, pushing me to the ground.
"Stupid," I saw him mouthed and drove off.
I was flushed with fury and stumbled to my feet. Turning to the arrogant jerk who had already driven away, I blurted out, "You rude bastard, don't let me see you again, or you'll be doomed!"
How can there be such arrogant guy in this world!
