"Can you believe that idiot?" Susan spat, her eyes blazing with fury. "I went to all the trouble of preparing him a cup of poisoned tea this morning, and he had the audacity to turn it down, as if my tea wasn't good enough for him." Her voice dripped with scorn. "I almost laughed in his face. The fool had no idea he was rejecting his own demise."
"It was actually rather fortunate, my love," Evans said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "We can use his arrogance against him.
"We must bait him, reel him in like a fish," Susan said, a devious gleam in her eye. "We'll make him think he's won, that he's outsmarted us. Then, when he's feeling secure, when he's at his most vulnerable, we'll strike.
"And how will we lure him in?" Evans inquired, a predatory smile curving his lips.
"With the one thing he desires most: power," Susan said, her voice silken and seductive. "We'll make him think he's part of our inner circle, that he's indispensable to our plans. We'll give him a taste of what it'
