Viola’s eyes sparkled with mischief, her words lilting like the tinkle of bells. “I’m sure you’re still dreaming about Daniel, even though he’s not here to distract you from your mother!” Her laugh rang out like a bell, reverberating through the room, mocking Juliet’s inner turmoil.
Viola’s face was impassive, her words dripping with the venom of her suspicions. “You must admit, my dear, that you have never been so quiet in all your life.”
With every passing moment, Juliet felt her resolve hardening like steel. She knew that she could not let this go on any longer, that she had to speak her truth, no matter the consequences. “I cannot do this anymore,” she muttered, her voice almost inaudible, but the words hung heavy in the air.
