CHAPTER 118: FRAGMENTS OF HAPPINESS
Cecilia's life had unfolded into a type that cared less for anything. Christian's passing had left an unfillable void. She felt numb, disconnected from the world, everyone around her, and herself.
She ceased speaking to Paul ever since and wouldn't leave her house. "I just want to be alone," she whispered to herself, seeing Paul's name on her phone screen. Paul's concerned calls went unanswered; she couldn't bear his sympathetic tone.
Her once cozy home now felt like a prison; she felt empty within. Cecilia spent her days trapped in grief, gazing over Christian's picture, still carefully placed on the table.
"Christian, my love," she whispered, "why did you leave me?" Her hand caressed the picture softly. "Why did you leave Mommy, Christian?" This time, Cecilia started to cry, unable to stop the tears from falling down her cheeks like a flowing river.
