CHAPTER 116: THE FUNERAL
"I think we should leave the state. Like lay low for a while," Jay told Veronica, his expression cautious as he watched her with narrowed eyes.
"And why should we do that?" Veronica frowned.
"If I do that, I'll be forced to give up my company," she snapped angrily.
"You won't have any company if the police find you," Jay yelled.
"We need to leave this state or even the country. Probably go to the Caribbean," he suggested with urgency.
"We are not going anywhere, Jay," Veronica declared firmly.
"We are staying here, and that is final,"
"Final?" Jay yelled incredulously.
" You have no right to dictate what's final or not. You don't call the shots," he retorted, his eyes flashing with anger.
" Really? You've been following my orders quite obediently, though," Veronica said, a sly smile spreading across her face.
"You are too deep in this to back out."
"Not anymore." Jay shook his head firmly,
“I refuse to be dragged down with you," he said, his eyebrow arching in skepticism.
