Chapter 14

At this time, the other side. Antoinette Yun got into the car. She opened the brocade box and found that there was a vivid green jade ring in it. She could not help but be a little surprised. She expected it to be something her mother had used before her death. But this ring, she had never seen it in her pictures. Not only that, but this thing was too big to fit on her--or most women, for that matter--it looked more like it had been made to fit a huge burly man. Why would her mother leave her something for a man? Antoinette Yun thought about it for a long time and couldn’t think of a reason. Anyway, as long as it belonged to her mother, she was going to treasure it. She put it away then started the car. Antoinette Yun was not in a hurry to go home. She stopped by her favorite bakery and bought an almond pastry, then proceeded to Gu's. As one of the three major business groups in China, Gu’s headquarters is located in the most prosperous commercial street in Pingcheng. Since they got married six months ago, it was not the first time that she visited Steve in his office. She would force Steve Gu to divorce every time she went there, so everyone knew that their relationship was not good. There were even secret bets on when they will get divorced. ... The young lady at the front desk was immersed in her phone, chatting with her boyfriend. Someone tapped on the table twice, and she looked up to see Antoinette standing there. The eyes widened, and she jumped up. "Madam!" Antoinette nodded, her eyes fell on her mobile phone. As though she was old-fashioned, she berated the girl. "Don't play with your phone during work hours." The girl could not believe her ears. When did the President’s wife begin to care about her playing on her phone? "Yes, Ma'am.” She nodded nervously. Antoinette turned around and walked to the president's elevator. When she got inside, the young lady at the front desk breathed a sigh of relief. Her fingers shaking, she hurriedly sent a message to the group chat she shared with her office friends. Guys! Cruella is here! Soon, her phone was dinging as one notification after another came in. For reals? Noooooooooooooo! I see storm clouds…right above Mr. President’s head. Shivering. jpg. Press F to pay respects. There were all sorts of emojis, some crying and some laughing. There were some memes featuring a woman with her hair dyed half-black and half-white. It was the villain of a movie, a crazy woman who tried to kill a hundred puppies. Cassey Yu had just clicked on her mobile phone. From the deluge of notifications, she could tell that her friend group was very lively, and she wanted to know what was up. When she realized what was going on, he was so frightened that she almost dropped the phone. Damn it! Was Antoinette Yun coming? As she was panicking, the elevator door suddenly opened with a "ding". Inside the elevator, Antoinette tittered as soon as the door closed. She had scared the poor young girl out of her wits. Oh, the look on her face, she should have sna[ppped a photo of it, it would have made a great meme. When she got off the elevator, Antoinette walked past Cassey Yu, carrying a food box. "Assistant Yu, good afternoon!" She smiled. Cassey Yu froze in her seat, and squeaked out, "Ma'am!" "Is Steve in there?" Cassey nodded, “Yes.” Then she realized her mistake and promptly shook her head. “I mean, no. The president went to a meeting, and he didn't say when he will be back." Please just leave already, she pleaded silently. "It's okay, I'll go in and wait for him." Cassey’s mouth was agape as Antoinette went straight into the president's office. She looked down at the chat group, where some of her colleagues had began to mention her name. You can do it, Cassey! Cass, get her out of there! Come up with something quick! Well, she had just dropped the ball. She’d failed her boss. And everyone else who was surely going to take a hit when Steve gets upset after his wife harasses him once again. Cassey Yu quickly sent a message to Steve Gu to warn him. Steve Gu was talking with a client in a high-level club near the company, when he suddenly received the message from Cassey Yu. He narrowed his eyes and stood up. "President Gu?" The high-level executive sitting opposite him thought that the cooperation plan he proposed was not appropriate enough, and quickly stood up, fearing that he had lost the account. "Do you have any objections to our plan? If you have any concerns, just point these out to us and we will fix it." Steve Gu smiled. "The plan is okay. Go back and wait for the notice." After speaking, he strode away. On the other side, Cassey finally felt more at ease after sending out the message. Coming back here might be the final nail in the coffin for President Gu’s marriage. She had done her job as best as she could. Now, she was sure that he’s going to avoid conflict at all costs, therefore everyone was safe from his wife. For now, at least. She put away her phone, and when she looked up, she saw her colleagues sneaking up to door of the president's office. Curious, she cautiously walked over, trying not to attract attention as she did so. "What are you doing?" "Shh!" A colleague gestured for her to be quiet and pointed to the office again. Cassey looked in through the crack in the door, and saw Antoinette walking around, muttering. The colleague lowered his voice. "Cass, what do you think the she’s doing?"
