Chapter 11
After breakfast, she walked him to the door, fastened his tie, and then watched as he left.
When he stepped out of the door, she suddenly thought of something and stopped him.
"Um, I may have to go to Yun's house later, my dad asked me to go back and get my mom’s things.
Steve Gu stopped and frowned.
"This is strange…you never told me what you’re planning to do before."
She smiled. "Yeah, I admit I was like that before. Now that I want to be with you, I feel like I need to tell you, because…why not?"
Steve Gu was stunned for a while, nodding thoughtfully.
"Okay…that’s kind of nice."
The entire morning, she kept receiving messages from him.
Nine o'clock in the morning. I have arrived at the company.
Ten o'clock in the morning. I am going to have a meeting.
Twelve o'clock at noon. I went to eat.
Antoinette couldn't help but laugh.
She didn’t tell him where she was going so he’d do the same, she thought his job was generally boring.
It was more like a courtesy on her part. She was trying to get it across to him, that she wasn’t going to run away at every turn, like she had done before.
She wasn’t expecting him to tell her every little thing he did all day.
She sat on the chair, propped her forehead with one hand, and smiled deeply.
She thought of sending him a message back so that he didn't have to do this, but when her finger fell on the send button, she paused slightly.
Forget it, that's fine.
Every time he reported to her, it meant he thought of her. Wasn’t it sweet? She smiled and put away the phone, took the car key and walked to the basement.
There are many cars in Steve's garage.
There are various brands, none below the five million price point
She chose a red sports car. After getting into the car, she skillfully stepped on the accelerator, and the car shot out like an arrow. She went out the driveway powered by an automatic gate.
At the Yun family’s house, Regine Lin had cried all night. Although she had a bad background, she has has managed to keep herself away from any major scandals since she entered the entertainment industry. She has never before lost face like she did at the party.
Unexpectedly, not only had she been drugged, but also there were so many indecent photos of her circulating the internet.
At the thought that everyone in the city has seen her photos, she wanted to die.
To Mr. Yun, it was just a headache. Eventually, it will be over. But you never can tell when. And the things you try, it may work, or it may may backfire.
A female voice suddenly came from the door as he was comforting his wife with her eyes nearly swollen shut from crying.
"Dad, I'm back."
She walked in, wearing casual clothes.
Mr. Yun's face suddenly sank.
"You came back just in time. I have something to ask you."
She raised his eyebrows and walked over.
"What?
"Why was Marshall Su at the birthday banquet last night? Does this have anything to do with you?"
She was stunned at first, and then immediately laughed.
"Dad, what do you mean by this? Why would I invite him there when I have my husband by my side? And though the drugs came from Marshall Su, the person who had made a fuss in the first place was Alex. Except for when I was upstage, I was by Grandfather’s side, or my husband’s, or Alex’s."
Mr. Yun had to admit, she had a very solid alibi.
But still he had his doubts. She was really well-behaved last night, uncharacteristically so if you asked anyone who knew her at all. Before, she tended to speak her mind, without thinking of the consequences. Last night, she didn’t say anything stupid at all.
And yet, if it were not for her sharp eyes, it would not be possible to find out that Marshall Su had done it! Mr. Yun's expression softened a little.
Regine Lin suddenly sobbed. "Blame me, knowing that Marshall Su has a grudge against our family, but I took no precautions at all. He must have wanted revenge because we let Toni marry Steve Gu!"
Antoinette's eyelids twitched. Sure enough, Mr. Yun's face sank again.
"Yes." He glared at her angrily, "If it weren't for you, would Marshall Su target your Aunt Lin? You should apologize to Aunt Lin!"
Antoinette almost laughed angrily. She sat on the sofa and folded her arms. "You said that Marshall Su gave Aunt Lin the medicine because of me. What about the evidence?"
"What evidence do you want? No one in our family had anything to do with Marshall Su except you, so who else can it be?"
Antoinette smiled sarcastically.
"That's not necessarily true, nobody here knows who else in this family was connected with Marshall Su. After all, he has been with us for a long time."
"What do you mean?"
"A few days ago, I accidentally saw you coming out of the hotel with Marshall Su,” she said, looking at Alexandra. She turned back to her father and stepmother, and added, “She was supposed to be with her film crew at that time. Why was she at the hotel? What was she doing with Marshall Su?"
Mr. Yun’s eyes turned slightly to look at Alexandra Yun next to him, and the color drained from her face. Taken aback, the man did not know what to say.
Antoinette hadn’t really seen it with her own eyes, but it was Alexandra Yun who had told her, in the other timeline.
