33. Shadows and Spirits of the Night
Three torturous, mind-boggling days had crawled by like snails since my last encounter with Jacob. After our inexplicably dramatic conversation the other day, it had been complete radio silence. I even tried prying information from Tyler and Susan, but it was as if I'd been asking my pet goldfish for relationship advice. Zip, zilch, nada.
In a fit of frustration, I marched back to my own house, where I had a "heartwarming" reunion with my lovely family. Let me tell you, it was just like a sitcom where you walk into a room, expecting them to break into an Oscar-worthy performance of 'The Sound of Silence.' But alas, they merely exchanged glances, perhaps having taken a vow of silence to show solidarity with the mysteriously missing Jacob.
I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry, but I definitely contemplated giving up and joining a monastery to find some peace and quiet in this chaotic sitcom of my life.
