Chapter 9

My vision remained blurry, and I could barely see anything. "Where's your cane?" Samuel asked again. "I lost it." In the end, I came to my senses and pulled away. However, I couldn't break free from his grasp. His expression remained unhappy. "Couldn't you have tried to find it? I thought that you could differentiate between the sound of a red light and a green light? Didn't I teach you how to cross the road? Did you know…" I frowned in confusion. Meanwhile, Samuel continued being angry. Without caring that we were in the middle of the street, he started scolding me. Was he furious because I didn't listen to his instructions, unlike in my previous life? Lowering his voice, Samuel continued, "You've gone blind. How dare you ignore my calls given your current condition? If not for me, you would've died!" It seemed that he finally realized where we were. Many people knew him at Harborton University, so he wouldn't behave crazily here. My guess was right. Inhaling deeply, Samuel controlled his rage and leaned in. "The house has been renovated. Come back with me. Also, didn't I tell you to wear a mask whenever you're outside?" After saying that, he glared coldly at the man who was secretly filming me. He was scared senseless and hurriedly kept his phone. Still, Samuel dragged me to the man. "Delete the photos and videos," he demanded. The man awkwardly took out his phone. Then, Samuel snatched it away and released his grip on me. After checking the man's photo gallery, he deleted all the photos and videos of me inside. Looking at how forcefully Samuel jabbed the phone screen, the man fell silent. Yet he didn't dare to stop him. Meanwhile, I looked away and headed to my university. Alas, before I managed to walk away, Samuel grabbed my waist. "Are you still crossing the road? Do you want to be hit by a car?" Hearing that, goosebumps appeared on my flesh. "Let go of me!" I intentionally scratched the injuries I left on his hand the previous day. Though he hissed in pain, his grip on me tightened. "How long are you going to continue fighting with me? Are you blaming me for abandoning you at the hotel?" Dragging me away, he headed to his car. "I haven't even blamed you for running away from the hospital!" "Let go of me! Let go of me! Someone, please help me call the police! Please call the police!" I struggled and screamed for help. At the same time, I kicked his thigh, hard. "You caused a lot of trouble for me after you called the cops at the resort, yet I didn't settle the scores with you. You're pushing my boundaries." Samuel's voice was very indifferent. He grabbed my waist tightly as if he wanted to snap me into two. My stomach hurt from the pain, and I couldn't break free no matter how hard I fought back. When I came to my senses, I realized that I had been pulled over to his car. Just then, a security guard stopped Samuel. He probably saw the scene, so he rushed over. "What are you doing, sir?" Grabbing the security guard's sleeve, I begged, "Please save me! I don't know who he is. Please call the police!" When I screamed for help, Samuel's expression turned grim. He glared at my fingers that were gripping the bodyguard's sleeve. "Should I break your fingers so that you'll stop seducing other men in front of me?" "Please help me to call the police!" The security guard's voice trembled nervously. "Excuse me, this woman is from the university. Please let her go." I knew that everyone would be intimidated by Samuel when he behaved fiercely. The security guard was so scared that he trembled. Suddenly, Samuel laughed coldly. "How many students are at Harborton University? How do you know that she's from the university? You're just a security guard. How long have you been observing her? Are you dating her?" I slapped Samuel so hard that my hand became numb. Everyone fell silent, and Samuel licked the inside of his cheek. At the next moment, he opened the car door and shoved me inside. I instinctively grabbed the seat, and the pain in my wrist was so agonizing that I broke into a cold sweat. The security guard sounded quite angry. "Excuse me, sir—" "Leave! You can't provoke me or I'll make you lose your job." After that, Samuel grabbed my legs and pushed them into the car, closing the door with a loud bang. Soon, he climbed into the passenger seat and drove away from Harborton University. I had been captured by him again. I wanted to escape, but I couldn't jump out of the car. I couldn't die yet—not when he was still alive. At first, he drove very fast. The next moment, he looked at me through the rear-view mirror and swallowed. He then stopped the car at the side of the road. Just when I prepared to open the car door and escape, he grabbed my legs and pulled me into his embrace. After he locked the car doors, I became utterly trapped. "Your eyes are teary and you smell great. Are you trying to seduce me? Have you become braver now? You didn't pick up my calls for two days. Let me check to see if you've cheated on me." His expression turned serious as he tried to take off my clothes. "I didn't mind when you told me those words at the hospital back then. Yet you rejected my calls and even dragged the security guard into our quarrel. I'll fire him later on!" "Samuel!" I grabbed his clothes and looked away. "Let's make a bet." He stared at me intensely, his breathing growing urgent. Kissing my temple, he asked, "What's the bet?" I was so repulsed by his touch that I almost threw up. "Let's bet who will fall in love with the other first. The time limit is three months." I knew that he loved Yvette, so he wouldn't fall in love with another woman. At the same time, I knew that I wouldn't fall in love with him. I was just trying to find a way to stop his crazed behavior at the moment. "Do you want me to fall in love with you?" "Are you willing to accept the bet?" Instead of looking at him, I stared at the top of the car because I had to pretend to be blind. Samuel laughed disdainfully, his expression contemptuous. In my previous life, I couldn't see anything. So, when I asked him carefully if he would like me back then, I didn't see the disdainful look on his face. From the start, he thought that I had overestimated myself and that I was delusional. Gradually, Samuel's enthusiasm waned. He adjusted his white shirt and pulled down his sleeves. Then, he took a pack of cigarettes from the driver's seat and lit a cigarette. Though he saw me cough from the smoke, Samuel still blew a ring of smoke into my face. "What are the stakes?" I replied coldly, "If I lose, I'll listen to you forever and do whatever you tell me to without fighting back." He raised an eyebrow. "Three months? If I don't fall in love with you in three months, does it mean that you'll lose?" Trembling, I adjusted my clothes. "Yes!" I knew that this bet was tempting to him. It was very tempting because if I lost, he could force me to kneel and apologize in front of Yvette. This would make her happy.
