Chapter 5

Dorothy shook her head. "I may not be blind, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t deceived. That mother and daughter were so two-faced, and I was just their toy. After going through life and death, if I still buy into their nonsense, then I’ve truly wasted that experience.." Michael raised an eyebrow. "Speaking of which, I'm quite curious. When I came to see you, you were breathless. How did you come back to life again?" Dorothy couldn't very well say that she's not his sister, and she's possessed, right? "I don't know, maybe it was temporary shock…" Michael didn't ask more. After all, the person was alive, why ask so much? Dorothy was worried that Michael would question until the bottom of the matter. She took Michael's arm. "Brother, I'm going to explain to our father. Come with me." Michael didn't say a word but followed Dorothy upstairs anyway. As soon as the two of them pushed open the door, a folder flew towards them. Dorothy dodged her head, took a deep breath, and walked inside under the angry stare of Noah Arnold. Dorothy knew that this father cared deeply for his original daughter, but he used the wrong method. The lack of communication between father and daughter led to the present situation. Mia stood obediently next to Noah, sobbing. Seeing the man's suit on Dorothy, Noah was so angry that he almost couldn't breathe. "What on earth are you wearing? Speak up, where were you last night?" Dorothy looked at Mia's acting skills and decided not to mince words. With a blink of her eyes, tears streamed down her face. "Dad, did my sister tattle on me again? It’s always been like this, you never believe me. You always listen to Mia—just who is your real daughter?" Noah was over fifty, his hair salt-and-pepper. At her words, his expression slightly softened. However, Michael, standing by, snorted coldly and butted in, "Of course, he's not, ever since mom died, none of us seem to exist in your eyes." The brother-sister tag-team left Noah furious. "Well, tell me then, where were you last night?" Dorothy blinked, and with a 'wa', broke down in tears. "Dad, I was wrong, I shouldn't have disregarded your words. I went to a bar to drink last night, I felt like I've been too disobedient and couldn't face you, so I didn't want to come home. But then I drank too much, threw up, and the staff gave me a change of clothes." After a pause, with tears streaming down, Dorothy continued. "Dad, I'm over with that worthless man, don't worry, I won't do anything foolish." Both her lifetimes had been dogged by her step-sisters stealing her fiancés, if she ever got involved with another man, she'd rather live-stream herself crashing into a wall. Noah was taken aback, originally he wanted to give his daughter a good lecture, now hearing her words, he didn't know what to say. After all, she was his own dear daughter. How could he bear the sight of her tears? "So how do you explain the clothes you were tearing off your sister a while ago?" Dorothy, with a face full of confusion, opened her small mouth, her face still wet with tears. "What clothes? Who was undressing whom?" While saying these, Dorothy even turned her head and asked Michael, "Brother, did you see me undressing anyone just now?" Michael shook his head. "I didn't see anything." Listening to the blatant lie of the siblings, Mia was so angry that her palms turned red from clenching. Noah hummed in agreement, then turned his gaze towards Mia. "Mia…" Mia lowered her head, hiding the resentful look in her eyes. "Dad, I…" and with that, she began to sob. Dorothy sneered internally. "Mia, please don't cry, okay? Tell me what's wrong and I'll help you get back at them. Was it Mason Novak who bullied you? I saw you two fighting in the classroom the other day. He even tried to undress you!" Mia was taken aback, her face instantly turning pale.
