Chapter 6
"It's just a small trinket, you think it was given by a girl?" Vincent tried to play it cool and dismissive. His composed demeanor was flawless, making it impossible to raise any questions.
If she hadn't experienced his deceitfulness, Ariana might have naively believed his words and let this incident slide.
But now,
Ariana did not want to let this deceiving couple off easily. Lowering her eyelids, her tone was icy, "How would I know if it was given to you by a girl or not? You value it so much to keep it safe in your pocket, I want it."
Vincent's heart tightened. He didn't expect the usually understanding Ariana to be so stubborn now. His eyes narrowed slightly, and his inferiority complex of being dependent on others became stronger. But all he could do was force a smile, "Ariana, your jealousy is rendering me rather wronged."
"Are you giving it to me? If you don't, it shows you have something to hide." Ariana locked her deep, discerning gaze onto Vincent.
He was in a bind.
Even though he was unwilling, Vincent had no way to deal with Ariana's wilfulness. Swallowing his retort, he had no choice but to hand the item from his pocket to her, feigning indifference: "Fine, since you want it, I'll give it to you. It's not particularly valuable though. If you like this kind of necklace, I can have someone bring you a better one tomorrow."
He sounded so accommodating like he would get her the stars from the sky if she wanted, no matter the cost.
"Who said I liked it?" Ariana casually toyed with the pendant as she accepted it. She had seen this pendant in her previous life but had dismissed it, allowing herself to be led around by the two of them like a fool.
This pendant was a reminder of how foolish she had been!
"This thing looks really cheap." Ariana suddenly curled her lips, intentionally waving the pendant at Jane, "Jane, don't you agree? I wonder who chose this cheap thing to be worn around my fiancé’s neck."
Without another word, Ariana hooked the chain of the pendant and tossed it directly into a nearby trash can, her movements smooth and swift.
In that moment, she cleverly caught a glimpse of a fleeting darkness flickering across Jane's face.
Can't bear it anymore? Hehe, Ariana sneered in her heart.
This is just the start.
"Ari..."
Vincent's heart was ablaze with rage, yet he had to feign a calm attitude and force a smile, responding, "It's not exactly a cheap item. If you don't like it, donating it is good too."
"Cheap things don't deserve to be kept. If you like to wear a necklace, I'll buy you a tasteful one later. I don't like this one because it's too tasteless and poorly designed," Ariana said, feigning a coquettish tone.
With her well-crafted response, Vincent couldn't retort, so he only patiently consoled her: "Alright, alright. My Ari has grown up and learned how to be care for people."
His Ari!?
Jane, standing on the sidelines, almost burst into tears.
Vincent was hers alone, not Ariana's. The reason VIncent was appeasing Ariana was that this woman was useful to them. However, she, who had never cared before, nearly burst into tears, the moment Ariana threw the pendant.
What a despicable woman Ariana was!
Sharp nails dug deeply into her palm, and in her heart, she wished to destroy Ariana completely. Ariana dared to throw away the token of love between her and Vincent, yet Vincent and she still had to fawn over her. Thinking of this, Jane could no longer maintain her smiles, and suddenly spoke: "Sis, I have something else to do. Since you're okay, I'll go first." Hearing this Ariana knew she had successfully hit a nerve, yet she still didn't want to let her go so easily.
