Chapter 5

"But..." Allison looked at her friend's stubborn determination, unable to voice her concern, "But the reputation of Lambert... is not good." In fact, it's actually terrible. Allison could only think that her bestie became stupid after hitting her head, otherwise, why would she so wishfully ditch a high-quality man like Vincent and choose a trash like Lambert? Seeing Allison's helpless face, Ariana revealed her first genuine smile since her rebirth, she buried herself into Allison's embrace and said comfortingly: "Allison, I am not a fool. Lambert isn't as bad as you think." Seeing Ariana’s resolute, Allison knew it would be futile to argue further. As she hesitated, Vincent and Jane approached together, their faces painted with identical worry and frenzy. "Ari, are you alright?" She saw the two faces which she would never forget even if they turned to ash. The rage at the bottom of Ariana's heart was uncontrollable, but others weren't aware that a new soul had already reincarnated the girl in front of them. After exchanging glances, Jane was the first to rush to the bed, grabbing Ariana’s hand, her eyes reddened, "Sis, why would someone hit you like this... It's too bad, I'm going to make Vincent beat that person up for you!" The words "Sis" seemed like an insult from Jane's mouth. Ariana felt nauseated. She would never forget the disgusting memory of these two doing the "deed" right next to her. Taking a deep breath, Ariana managed to suppress her rage, removing her hand without a trace, and replied lightly, "It's okay, there's no need to get revenge." Ariana's aloofness somehow baffled Jane. Why does this idiot seem like a different person today, Jane cursed quietly and deliberately scolded Vincent, "Vincent, look at you, you've upset Ari. I came as soon as I heard she had an accident, but you decided to come only after your business negotiation. Ari is upset, isn’t she!" Vincent coughed lightly and accepted Jane's accusations readily. He then walked towards Ariana slowly, his gaze filled with tenderness, "Ari, I apologize for coming late." His tone was so affectionate that it could truly touch one’s heart. Ariana seemed indifferent on the surface, yet in her heart, she loathed this conniving man and adulterous woman to the core. "No worries. Work is more important," Ariana expressed nonchalantly. A gleam flashed through Vincent's eyes and he smoothly sat at the edge of the bed. Subconsciously, he wanted to pull Ariana into his arms. However, just as his hand was about to touch her shoulder, Ariana subtly moved away. She set her eyes on the shining pendant around his neck and deliberately raised her voice, "Vincent, the pendant hanging on your neck... why does it seem so familiar to me?" A sudden shock hit Vincent's heart. He quickly racked his brain, knowing he couldn't hide it, he reluctantly lied, "Just a worthless trinket. I even forgot it was here until you mentioned it." While talking, he swiftly removed his pendant, casually putting it in his suit's pocket. Simultaneously, Jane also covertly removed a silver ring from her ring finger. Her heart suddenly trembled. Damn it, why is this woman so observant today!? Her and Vincent's pendants were actually a couple's rings. Though they can't openly declare their relationship yet and opted to commemorate their love in this hidden way, they found this secretive manner both exciting and refreshing. Unfortunately, they were caught red-handed by Ariana today. With a racing heart, Jane gritted her teeth, unable to utter a word, fearing that Ariana might put the puzzle pieces together and sniff out their secret. Unknown to her, Ariana already knew everything and was even planning revenge.
