Chapter 20
Justine and I had been strolling for a very long period, and there were roughly a dozen acres in front of us. All of the lights were turned out, which surprised me because I had anticipated them to be switched on, and the front door was open. There was a bright orange tractor-trailer in the yard, but it didn't appear to have been used in a long time. The lawn and vegetation were drab and unkempt, and the front lawn was primarily made up of tangled cedar trees. A semicircular veranda runs up through the front entrance, but an end has a mahogany veranda glider. It's been pulled from the rafters in places, and it swings at a strange angle, whinging backward and forward between.
But, beyond everything, it was not what piqued my interest. I saw Justine huffing fiercely by my side and cast a peek at him.
"Yeah, I see that as well," he remarked quietly.
I returned my gaze to the property, focusing on the enormous ventilation system towards the edge of the property.
