Chapter Seventy Five: The Good Samaritan

"How is he doing?" I spoke into the phone when I received a call from the hospital.
"He regained his consciousness earlier this morning," the nurse informed me.
"Okay. Have you reported his situation to his family then?"
"No. We weren't given any details by him. He said he needed to see you first."
I frowned. "What? Me? I only helped him. I don't know him."
"It's possible he wants to express his appreciation for your rescuing his life."
I batted my eyelashes. "Uh... okay. I'm not around at the moment. I will visit, maybe, next tomorrow. Around evening."
"I will relay your message to him, ma'am," the nurse said, ending the call.
"Who is that?" Trevor asked as he handed the fruit cocktail he had gotten for me and Connor.
He had one for himself too, taking a seat beside us.
With the manner the three of us sat at the bench, looking out the sea, we looked like his parents.
A few passers-by had given such comments when they walked by us.
"Oh, my! Your son is so adorable!"
