Chapter 8

On Monday in art class, I was surprised that Liam came and sat beside me. He also started a conversation with me first. I don't know why, but I was glad that he was starting to feel comfortable around me. Even if it was just a little bit. As soon as art class was finished, I packed up my bag quickly and run to catch Liam before he disappeared again. "Hey, do you want to eat lunch with me today?" I asked Liam as soon as I was near him. "I normally eat outside by myself." He answered. "I know that, but eat with us today. It's just my best friend and I. She is great. You will like her." He looks at me, deliberating for quite some time, before he responds. "Okay." I smile widely at his response. "Great. Come on then." I said and we walk to the cafeteria. We ordered our lunch and I walk over to my seat where Bethany was already sitting. Liam followed behind me. "Beth, Liam is joining us for lunch today." I said to Beth as soon as I reach the table. She looks up at Liam and gives him a warm smile. "Sure. Come on Liam, sit." she replied, gesturing to the seat with her hands. "You are welcome anytime. Any friend of Julia's, is a friend of mine." I sat down as well, "By the way, this is Bethany, my best friend." I introduce her to Liam. "Hi." Liam said, returning Beth's smile. "It's so nice to finally meet you." She said. "You know, I've only heard about you based on what Julie tells me. She talks about you a lot." She grins wickedly. I look wide eyed at Beth and then I glare at her. She gives me a smirk in return. Through the corner of my eyes, I saw Liam looks at me, to Beth and then back at me. He then lifted one of his eyebrows curiously at us. "Anyways." I look at Liam and changed the subject. "Did you complete your homework for English?" I ask. He nodded. "Good. Because Mrs. Saunders is running detention for those who doesn't have their homework." I heard Bethany clicking her tongue beside me. I look at her with my eyebrows raise. "What is it?" "You my friend, is something else." She said. "What are you talking about?" I ask. "Nothing. Nothing at all." She gives me a teasing smile and went back to eating her lunch. I shook my head at her and turn around to talk to Liam. This girl is so weird. I really don't know what I'm going to do with her. After a while, Beth joined in our conversation and we all began to eat our lunches. After lunch, I went to English class. Liam had left the cafeteria before and I saw that he was already in the class. I notice that someone was already sitting in the seat beside him at the back, so I sat in the middle of the classroom. Mrs. Saunders came in the class soon after and greets us. "Okay class, please send your homework to the front of the class and if you don't have it, please come for your detention slip and I will be seeing you later." Everyone brought their homework to the front of the class. After Mrs. Saunders received all the home works, she continues. "Today you are going to work in pairs and work on the worksheet that I would be giving you. I want it by the end of class and it will help you in preparation for your test next week." Everyone in the class got up to find their partners. I saw Monica indicated to me from the other side of the classroom. I look over at Liam to make sure he had a partner. I saw that a girl was going over to him, so I smile at him and got up to go over to Monica. The teacher gave us the worksheet and we began working. Class was over and I was walking to my maths class that I had with Bethany. While walking, I noticed a figure came and walk beside me. I turn and see that it was Nate. "What do you want, Nate?" I ask annoyed by his presence. "I notice that you are spending a lot of time with that freak." He said. "Who are you talking about?" I ask confused. "That boy that I saw you with at lunch." "Who I spend my time with is none of your damn business!" I stated. "Oh, I see now. Freaks are your type of people, that's why you didn't want to get with me." He replies. I look at him angrily, "The only freak here is you, so you better look in the mirror before you start pointing fingers. Now, please leave me alone, so that I can go to my class in peace." He laughs, "You talk so now, but I know you will come crawling to me eventually. Every girl does. I am hard to resist." He replies arrogantly. This boy was so full of himself. I continued to walk and ignore him. "Don't have anything to say, I see. It's because you know it's the truth." I shake my head at him. "I'm sorry, did you say something? I was busy ignoring you." I said. Before he could say anything else, I walk up fast and turn in the direction of my class. The more this boy talk to me, the more I realize how annoying he is. I really can't stand him. And to think that at one point I thought he was hot. The only thing I see now is the jerk that he is.
