CHAPTER 97
I knocked gently on his door, managing to balance the plate of soup in my hand. Seeing there was still no response from within, I sighed again.
My hand reached for my stomach and my lips quivered as I tried to hold back my tears.
This was what they did to me. Tory ruined my happiness.
I looked back at Connor's door again. He did not know about any of this and I was afraid to tell him what had happened. Afraid to shatter the one thing that made him genuinely happy ever since I had met him. It was almost an hour since Connor had come back from his parents and since then, he had remained locked up inside his room and refused to come out or respond to the door anytime I knocked. I would have feared that something terrible had happened to him in his room but the sound of his bare hands bashing the walls, followed by his scream of agony showed that he was alright.
But not alright.
I couldn't quite place what might have transpired back at his parents' place but whatever it was, I knew it
