Meredith gently patted Lyra's hand, her expression filled with warmth and care.
Yet, unease churned in Lyra's heart.

She lowered her voice, continuing, "I know you were trying to gather information the other night, but it's too dangerous. Frank isn't coming back. This is the safest place for you."
"Mrs. Foster, I can't just think of myself. I have friends and I need to stand with them. I can't let them worry about me," responded Lyra.
Setting down the tea and snacks, Lyra stood, but a wave of dizziness swept over her. The realization struck—there was something in the coffee.
