Her Revenge

With glazed eyes, I staggered up and walked toward the office. "Granny Luisa said that she liked the pine forest in the mountain and wanted to be buried there... "Also, she doesn't like to be cremated. She wants to rot in the mud..." Walking, I was overwhelmed by the sadness. Then, I cried out in Carroll's arms.  "There, there!" Carroll stroked my back while comforting me in a gentle voice, "I'll tell Jason to buy the pine forest and build the tomb." When I cried in Carroll's arms, the past flooded back to me like the movies.  Granny Luisa stuffed some bread through the crack of the woodshed. Granny Luisa led me to the mountain to study herbs. Granny Luisa taught me how to make clothes and draw... It seemed she should take credit to my knowledge about this world.  She talked about the world outside Phoenix Village and told me fairy tales.  I cried on and on till my throat was too dry to make a sound. Carroll held my waist with sympathy. "You may take a break first if you can't hold on.
