Chapter 49
“Xander, what’s wrong?” she asked, feeling flustered. The last time he looked this angry, Robert had suffered from a one sided beat down.
“Did you sell the ring I gave you, Olivia?” he asked her, his voice sounding so cold she couldn’t help but shiver.
“What are you talking about? Aren’t I wearing the ring?” Olivia asked and looked at the ring on her finger. She hadn’t noticed it before, but now that she was looking at the ring carefully, she was able to tell that the stone was fake. She immediately remembered the pawnshop owner.
Alexander wasn’t in the mood to relax anymore. He straightforwardly pulled the ring off her finger and confirmed his suspicions.
“This is obviously a fake, besides this rock. The ring I gave you had my maternal family’s initials on it. It belonged to my mother,” Alexander said and angrily tossed the ring on the coffee table.
It was an heirloom left by his mother, one of the few things of hers that he still had. It was so precious to him, but it was treated so
