The return journey through the Undercity was arduous. Elizabeth, still recovering from her ordeal channeling the Nexus's energy, moved with a slow, measured gait. Friesland, his suit depleted and patched together from scavenged parts, remained ever vigilant, scanning the darkness for any sign of remaining hostiles. The Scholar, his frail form pushed to its limits, clung to Friesland's arm, his voice barely a whisper.
The silence was broken only by the rasp of their breathing and the rhythmic hum of their malfunctioning suits. The whispers, once a constant presence, had vanished, replaced by an unsettling emptiness. As they trudged through the oppressive darkness, a sense of foreboding crept into their hearts.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, they emerged from the depths of the Undercity. Blinking in the harsh sunlight, they found themselves back in the ruined outskirts of the City. The once-proud buildings, now crumbling reminders of a glorious past, stretched before them
