"Judge Goi,” Izaak politely called when his call was received. “This is Izaak Martinez. Do you remember me?”
The judge let out a laugh. “Of course I do. How could I forget such an outstanding student in my class?”
Izaak smiled. “I am flattered, Judge Goi. I was nowhere near your excellence when you were a student,” he said in a self-effacing manner. “I want to consult you about something. Would you mind if I invite you to a private dinner?”
The judge became silent for a few seconds. “As long as you don’t bribe me or something," he joked.
Izaak laughed loudly, but deep down he was nervous. Judge Goi was famous for being upright and virtuous. He did not tolerate any acts of corruption.
“I wouldn’t dare, Judge Goi.”
With that, Izaak immediately got a yes to his dinner invitation. He arranged a dinner in a fancy restaurant the next day.
