Lucy's POV
The book Felix gave me lay hidden in my office drawer, its secrets still unread, when Narla found me. I sensed her presence before I saw her – a predatory energy that set my newfound vampire instincts on high alert.
"Working late?" Her voice was silk over steel as she materialized in my doorway. "How... dedicated."
I didn't look up from my computer. "Rico's office is on the top floor. I'm sure he'd be happy to hear whatever message Xena sent you with."
"Oh, but I'm here for you, little newborn." She walked into my office like she owned it, her movements liquid grace. Everything about her screamed danger – from her blood-red hair to her leather-clad frame. "We need to talk about Venice."
Now I looked up, letting my fangs show slightly. "Nothing to talk about. Unless you'd like to tell me where my daughter is?"
