Chapter 5: She was Austin's Wife

It was Austin, instantly bringing tears to Nora's eyes. She quickly stood up and hugged Austin's shoulders, "Austin, stay with me, okay?" Nora had nothing left but pleading, begging Austin for a bit of warmth, for an embrace. She was humble in love, devoted to Austin, setting aside her pride and dignity. If one day her heart died, perhaps she would realize, but that chance was gone. She promised to spend her remaining time with Austin. "Yeah," the man replied. Austin couldn't simply stand by and watch Nora in such a pitiful state. He had known Nora for so long, even if there was no romantic love, there was still friendship and family affection. No matter how much he detested being bound by marriage, he couldn't stand seeing her distressed and fearful at home. Austin carried Nora into the bedroom, let her sleep, and brought many candles to illuminate every corner of the room. Nora felt warm and calm in her heart. That night, after intense passion and joy, Nora clung to Austin's waist. Austin rubbed against Nora's back, suddenly feeling a protruding area. There was a raised part on the spine, as if the bone had been injured. In his memory, Nora had been well-protected, never experiencing major illnesses or injuries. How could there be an injury? "What happened?" Austin shifted in the position around her waist. Nora leaned against Austin's chest, pulled his hand over, and placed it on her chest, "It's just an accident. It's fine now." A bone injury couldn't simply be overlooked, but Nora didn't elaborate, and Austin refrained from pressing for more details. He gradually drifted off to sleep. Nora couldn't sleep, especially facing Austin's face. She just wanted to use all her strength to remember, staring at him without daring to close her eyes. She caressed Austin's features; this face made so many women crazy, yet it was bound by her, an ordinary woman. Nora smiled, ultimately still happy. Austin's phone rang, and Nora, afraid of disturbing him, switched it to silent. The display showed the name "Aria," and reluctantly, she answered the call. "Austin, I'm scared. Can you come and stay with me?" Aria cried over the phone. The wind was blowing outside, and it was raining. Nora looked at Austin, who was sleeping with his arm around her waist, and vetoed the idea. "Austin is asleep. If there's anything, let's talk tomorrow." "Nora?" After Aria said this, Nora hung up the phone. She also had selfishness; Austin was her husband. She wasn't generous enough to hand her husband over to someone else. Every time she saw them intimately embracing, her heart felt like it was being cut with a knife. If Aria wanted Austin to come find her, Nora would absolutely not allow it. Austin's wife was Nora, not Aria. As the weather cooled down, seeing Harper knitting a sweater for her baby, Nora also had an idea. She wanted to knit a scarf for Austin. Every time he went to work, Austin could wear her scarf. That would be so blissful. Nora followed an instructional video and managed to knit half of it in about a day. It turned out that knitting a scarf wasn't as difficult as she thought. "Nora!" Austin angrily pushed the door open. Seeing Austin come back, Nora was very happy. She took the half-knitted scarf and put it on Austin, "Does this scarf fit? When winter comes, you won't feel cold wearing it. I just learned it, and I've already knitted this much in just a day. Isn't that impressive?" Nora looked up at him, but Austin's face was full of anger. His mind was clearly not on the scarf; he disdainfully ripped it off and threw it on the ground, the knitting needles rolling away. The sound made Nora's heart tighten. Confused, she stared at the scarf she had worked hard to make, with her fingers pricked several times in the process. It now lay on the ground, and she bit her lip in frustration. Austin grabbed Nora's hand, pressed her against the wall, almost as if he wanted to strangle her, "Last night, did you hang up Aria's call?"
