Chapter 8 How unfortunate!
Michael gnashed his teeth and hissed, “Ivanka…!”
Ivanka smirked. She turned into a corner without looking back. Then, she went down the hill through a path that could only fit one person.
After some time, she reached a large road. By then, Michael’s car was out of sight, and Ivanka felt relieved.
She wrapped her arms around herself and walked under the moonlight and streetlights. The grass was green, and everything appeared to be at peace.
She heard the sound of insects. In the past, she was usually in a hurry whenever she passed by the place. She hardly had the time to take a stroll and admire the panoramic view like today.
She waited for a while before the cab arrived. Once it sent her home, Ivanka took her bath and felt refreshed.
Although she had been living alone in the past as well as the present, she felt an indescribable sense of relaxation at present. In the past, she always had Michael in her mind. Yet now, she could focus on her career. However, she could not help but be frustrated. Why did she have to waste all her energy on that scum in the past?
It was late at night. Even though Ivanka was not a deep sleeper, she slept soundly.
Meanwhile, Michael had a sleepless night.
After he left the Barkworth’s mansion, he went to his company and did some work before he went to bed. Even so, his mind was filled with the images of Ivanka’s feral smile.
Michael opened his eyes, and his expression was cold.
He got out of bed and started working.
He did not sleep throughout the night, and his face was as black as thunderclouds.
......
The next day, Ivanka was reading some documents at her apartment unit when Suki came to pick her up.
Suki asked worriedly, “Are you sure you’re ready for this?”
Ivanka sat in the passenger seat and looked absolutely relaxed. “I’ve been prepared since day one.”
“Are you sure you can make Jonah Sadler trust you? Didn’t their legal department ask any questions regarding your identity after you talked with him?
Ivanka looked down to read her documents. She said calmly, “He didn’t know that I was married. He didn’t really pay attention to the gossip.”
Suki was taken aback. “How can Mr. Sadler not possibly know about it?”
“We’ll find out soon.”
Suki fell speechless.
She prayed Ivanka would not ruin her own reputation.
After they arrived at their destination, the attendant led them to a private room. As they walked to the room, both Suki and Ivanka harbored different emotions in their hearts.
Once they went in, Ivanka saw a handsome man sitting at the table. He wore an haute couture black formal suit, and he gave off an air of regality. His almond-shaped eyes were welcoming. However, no one knew how cold he truly was beneath his warm facade.
When he heard the sound of the door opening, he looked up to see the people who had opened the door.
Ivanka was tall and slender, and she had put up her long, straight and black hair into a casual bun while two locks of wavy hair framed her face. She also had a pale blue dress that cinched her waist and showed off her figure, which had all the curves necessary to make a woman gorgeous. Her palm-sized face was free of makeup. Even so, she was absolutely stunning, especially her almond-shaped eyes. They sparkled brilliantly, but also gave off the air of a professional. One would inevitably be attracted and infatuated with her.
However, when Jonah realized the woman was Ivanka, he was surprised. The next moment, the corners of his lips curled upward. “Mrs. Barkworth, did you enter the wrong room?”
Jonah regarded Iris highly, thus he had arrived early. He had not expected to bump into his nemesis’s wife.
But Ivanka just strode in and sat across from Jonah. She smiled elegantly and said, “It’s been a while, Mr. Sadler.”
Jonah was amazed when he saw her beauty at a closer range. He had to admit that Ivanka was truly a beautiful woman. She possessed the kind of beauty that one could not forget in their lifetime after only a single glance.
Everyone else faded into the background when they were around her.
Unfortunately, such a lovely woman already belonged to Michael.
