Chapter 3 Play Hard To Get
The man wore a black suit. He looked noble.
The two sat opposite each other. He looked gentle as he spoke to Chiara.
Ivanka smirked to herself. ‘What a coincidence!’
Suki was puzzled. She turned toward in the direction where Ivanka was looking. Suki looked troubled when she saw the duo. “Why are they here too?!”
Suki had spoken with so much agitation that Michael turned to look at them. His gaze turned razor-sharp when he saw Ivanka and Suki, and he thought. “No wonder she signed the papers without hesitation and even gave up the mansion. It looks like she’s trying to play hard to get.”
Ivanka drew in a deep breath. She thought her next meeting with Michael would be on the day they registered their divorce at the City Hall. She did not expect to see him so much earlier in the restaurant.
Ivanka met his gaze and turned away indifferently before dragging Suki to leave.
Just then, they heard a voice calling in surprise, “Iv, there you are!”
Ivanka turned around and saw Chiara. She wore a white dress with her long and soft hair down the back of her neck. She looked as elegant as a Goddess. Chiara gave Ivanka a gentle smile as she looked at Ivanka.
Ivanka snickered to herself and thought. “This woman with such a ‘pure and innocent’ appearance is the same woman who sent me countless intimate photos of herself and Michael in just a month.”
Chiara pretended that she had not done anything to ruin Ivanka’s relationship with Michael. However, the truth was, Chiara had been plotting to sleep with Michael. Ivanka did not want to deal with such a scheming woman.
Ivanka gave Chiara a fake smile. “Chiara, you should be resting at home. Why did you come out to take the meal with Mr. Barkworth?”
Ivanka dropped the hint through her words. Her words were filled with sarcasm.
Chiara pretended to miss Ivanka’s sarcastic remarks. Chiara smiled elegantly. “Well, I’ve been living with my parents during this period of time, so I plan to move out. Mic is free to bring me out for a look around today. A-Are you here to look for Mic? Do you want to sit together with us?”
Chiara made it sound as if she was Michael’s wife.
Suki sneered. Chiara was truly a scheming woman! If not for Chiara flirting with Michael throughout the years, Ivanka would not have lived her life so miserably in the past!
Ivanka snorted, “No, thanks. I don’t want to disturb you guys.”
Ivanka rose. She no longer had the interest in staying around in the restaurant.
A sinister look appeared in Chiara’s eyes, and she said, “Mic, I guess Ivanka misunderstood our relationship. D-Do you want to explain to her? There’s nothing between us.” Michael looked ice-cold when he noticed Ivanka’s indifference and mocking expression. “There’s nothing much to explain to her.”
Ivanka raised one of her eyebrows. She turned around and was going to leave. However, Michael’s following words made her freeze.
“Ivanka, stop playing the same tricks. If you appear in front of me again, then it’s entirely your fault if I do anything cruel to you!”
Suki was so angry that she laughed. “Sir, stop being so narcissistic. Ivanka did not come for you.”
Ivanka paused mid-stride. She controlled her anger and laughed. “You? Do something cruel to me? Mr. Barkworth, exactly how cruel can you be?”
Before Michael said anything, Ivanka continued nonchalantly, “Chiara has longed to become Mrs. Barkworth since a long time ago. You should marry her as soon as possible so that I will stop receiving all those disgusting messages.”
Chiara’s expression changed. The next moment, she schooled her expression to how she normally looked and said in resignation, “Iv, I’ve explained to you many times before. I will never ruin your family. Mic felt he owed me a favor after all these years I spent as a paralyzed woman. Look, you’ve misunderstood us yet again. Shouldn’t your relationship be built on trust?”
Ivanka looked indifferent, and Michael found her to be disgusting. “Ivanka, stop playing such a trick on me. I will only find you even more disgusting!”
Michael was about to leave with Chiara. Ivanka remained on the spot and said solemnly, “Mr. Barkworth, if you think that I’m playing hard to get, why don’t we get our divorce certificate right away? With that, we won’t stop or delay each other from marrying someone else.”
