CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE – MAKING UP IN LOVE
"Mr. Allistair," the driver said, relief evident in his voice. "We've been trying to reach you. Are you alright, sir?"
Leon nodded, his voice rough with fatigue. "We're fine, James. Thank you for coming." He turned to Nia. "Can I offer you a ride home?"
Nia hesitated for a moment, then nodded. They slid into the plush interior of the limo, the quiet luxury a stark contrast to the chaos they'd just left behind.
As the car glided through the empty streets, neither spoke. Nia gazed out the window, watching the familiar landmarks of her city slip by. She felt Leon's presence beside her, a warmth in the cool interior of the car.
Before long, they pulled up in front of Nia's apartment building. The car idled, its engine a low hum in the quiet night. Neither made a move to leave.
Finally, Nia broke the silence. "Will you be staying in Philadelphia?" Her voice was soft, almost hesitant.
Leon shook his head. "No, I... I need to get back to New York. I was planning to drive there tonight,
