CHAPTER 81 BACK TO SCHOOL BLUES

One day while the summer days were fast disappearing Jenna was shopping for school items in a large department store, a list of school requirements in hand while Lily ran about the aisles choosing her books, pencils and crayons. The summer was passing very quickly and now Lily was going to school – to the first grade, no – the first class was going to be kindergarten. ‘Mommy, can I get the one with the unicorns?’ – Lily said, showing a pink backpack with glitter and a smiling unicorn on it. Jenna smiled, she felt such warmth towards her friend that all the animosity that she felt towards her earlier seemed to have disappeared. “Sure, honey The unicorn one is great. ” Lily smiled and threw the backpack into the cart and then went on to the next aisle with glee. Jenna watched her go and felt a twinge of pride and then of homesickness. It was rather surreal to think that from being a baby, learning how to walk, Lily was going to school. The idea made her sadder than she thought she
