CHAPTER 17 STAND BY ME

It was still early morning when Jenna sneaked out of her house; her heart raced with eagerness and trepidation. She had both the relief of being able to get the pregnancy test results and the anxiety that today’s results could alter everything. She had agreed to meet with Ryan at their favorite place by the lake a place that was always serene and remote. As she strolled, Jenna kept on thinking of the words her parents had said to her, threatening her with an ultimatum. She comprehended that they meant to shield her; however, such ignorance caused her a great deal of pain. He was there already, sitting on the old picnic table, looking out at the water when she got there. He swung around as she got near, the look on his face changing to one of worry. Jenna also immediately felt the affection for him, and at the same time the bitterness for what she had to tell him. ”Hi,” Ryan said softly as soon as she turned towards him. He looked up and saw her approaching, “Hi,” she said, as she
