I was taken aback and confused. "What do you mean, what am I doing?"
"I've been living here for over six months, and my landlord told me that no one lived across the hall. Are you a thief or something?" the woman said.
"A thief? Me?"
I couldn't help but laugh. "I bought this place three years ago. Sure, I haven't been back to live here, but—" I jingled my keys. "Have you ever seen a thief who has a key to the place?"
She was stunned. However, instead of feeling embarrassed about her misunderstanding, she laughed and said, "Oh, so you're the owner. My apologies!"
After saying that, she turned around, pulled out her keys, unlocked her door, and went inside, closing the door behind her.
I stood there, taken aback and chuckling. She was rather amusing. I had no idea the place I bought three years ago had such a beautiful neighbor. If I told Jerome, he would definitely get excited.
