CHAPTER 9 Spoils of war.

As Wulvric strode up to the podium, he couldn't wait to see Elodia's dumbfounded expression when she found out his true identity. She would know he's one of the sponsors of this school and look at him with new eyes. Just thinking about it made him feel extremely cute. He looked expectantly at where Elodia was standing, only to find her leaving again, leaving him with the same back view as when she left earlier. When he involuntarily took a step forward, he realized how uncomposed he was acting. He looked like a foolish boy trying to stop his lover from leaving. He disdainfully curled his lips; he always sneered at such foolish human emotions. He's the King of the black wolves for Goddess's sake! He squeezed the microphone, gracefully finishing his speech. Amidst the principal and other school leaders' profuse gratitude. Wulvric strongly added: "My family has always been the number one sponsor of this school" This outburst made Xavier go crazy, immediately standing from his seat. Everyone present could feel the disdain in the air, especially Xavier, the protagonist of the situation. He clenched his fists. He focused his attention on the principal. "My family's annual sponsorship to the school is no less than this jerk's. Now, I oppose this matter. Are you going to give up the support from our family for him?" "Principal Sam, please consider carefully before you answer me!" The principal swallowed, sweating profusely from being questioned and the center of attention, he found himself in a difficult situation. Stammering for words, he looked to Wulvric for help, hoping the instigator would step forward. Wulvric smirked, his lips curling with amusement as he casually adjusted his cuffs. He threw the handkerchief Elodia gave him, her scent covered it. He knew this would anger Xavier. He knew Xavier was the ex-boyfriend that Elodia was talking about, and he'd use that to mock him. His chance to capture Xavier failed when he escaped from his pack house due to the incompetence of his elite wolves. Now is his chance to get back at him. "Dare I make a bet?" he teased. Before anyone could respond, he added, with a hint of mockery, "But a little brat like you wouldn't dare to bet against me. It's futile to ask!" Emphasizing the syllables of 'little brat,' Wulvric with an indifferent expression, appeared to the onlookers as an adult dismissing a youngster's challenge. But to Xavier, Wulvric was mocking his wolf status and looking down on him and his family from behind the scenes. Xavier gritted his teeth, his chest heaving with anger. Despite trying to calm himself with deep breaths, Xavier's words were too cutting. "What's the bet? I'll bet against you!" "But let's make it clear first. If you lose, you'll have to pay the price!" Wulvric paid no heed to Xavier's ambition. He waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to prepare something, and casually suggested: "Who will ultimately win the girl you care about, her rejecting you and agreeing to be with me? Whoever wins fulfills the other's condition. How about it?" Xavier muttered a curse, glaring at Wulvric with frustration evident in his eyes: "Damn it! I knew it would come to this!" He did have a way to ensure Elodia wouldn't choose Wulvric. As long as he unlocked her suppressed memories, she would never develop any fondness for wulvric again, let alone date him! But... Those nightmare-like experiences that plagued Elodia would make her unable to sleep soundly again. If he didn't love Elodia deeply, he would not only win this bet but also take advantage of Wulvric's vulnerabilities! But now... he was bound to lose! Wulvric naturally sensed Xavier's torment. Knowing this little brat so well, victory was already in his pocket. Of course, he knew Xavier had erased the memory of him from Elodia's mind last night. But that didn't ease the fact that the knife that was used to stab him was from this puny brat. Twirling the ring on his finger, Wulvric wore an unmistakable grin: "If you don't even dare to strive, can I consider you voluntarily surrendering the bet and admitting defeat?" After a moment of contemplation, Xavier decided to confess everything to Elodia later and win back her affection. So he nodded solemnly, agreeing. Not long after, two girls slipped into the room - it was Elodia and her good friend, Victoria. They both spoke while laughing at their jokes, walking towards their sit. A man's voice suddenly interrupted them. "Hello dear, something must be funny. What are you talking about?" Elodia was fine, she was used to this person's voice a long but Victoria, who had been badmouthing him behind his back, was startled, like a cat whose tail had been suddenly stepped on, she let out a scream: "Oh my god! Why are you so silent when you walk? You scared me!" Victoria glared at the uninvited Xavier, her face turning into an ugly scroll. It was the person she wanted to kill for cheating on her friend. But Xavier didn't care. He looked straight at Elodia, his attitude deadly serious. "Can we talk alone? I have a lot to say to you!" He said, looking m at her with those deep, captivating eyes, half-pleading. If it were before, she would have softened and agreed, but now… he looks like a rabid dog. "There's nothing else for you to say. And even if you do, you can say it in front of Victoria" She replied coldly "What I have to say, it's private" He wanted to reach out and touch Elodia's arm, but for some reason, his outstretched hand froze in mid-air, and he closed his eyes tightly. Elodia being relentless in letting Victoria go, waited impatiently, "You don't speak now, then please, right away—" Xavier took a heavy breath, "If this can calm you down, then go ahead, pour it on me. I deserve it." "Even facing your anger is better than your indifference. I truly regret my actions, Elly" For a moment, Elodia considered giving him a chance. After all, he seemed genuinely repentant. But how will she ever trust him again? And not forgetting the fact that she's already weirdly infatuated with the model man, Wolvric. No, she couldn't go back to Xavier: "Get out of my sight Xavier. I can't forgive you" His eyes were full of pain. Naturally handsome, his tortured expression made him look like he was about to shatter, "But……" he couldn't utter a single excuse. He looked towards Victoria with pleading eyes. Victoria seeing that he seeks her help, squeezed her face in disgust, "I'd rather she marry an ant than let her go back to you" "Goodbye, Xavier" Elodia walked out of her former love. Walking towards the exit. She just needs some fresh air. Elodia collided with a hard boy. The contact of their body sent a wave of electricity down her spine making her shiver. It was him….. Mr. Wulvric. His emerald-green eyes at such close range bore deeply into hers, and she felt like she was drowning in their depth. They were both so close that she could almost feel their breaths intertwining with each other. His scent, like leather and pine needles, was cold and commanding. She could feel her breath quickening, As they stood, almost touching, she could feel the heat radiating from his body. And his warm body temperature, like a piece of red coal, transmitted through the fabric to her... Elodia tried to move away but it seemed like he had cast a spell on her. She was frozen in fear, her breath became unsteady, and her hand began to burn severely. It was agonizing. Elodia whimpered, raising her sleeves and bandages looking at the bite mark in her hand. It was burning bright glowing crimson Red. The pain was intense, she could barely stay focused before she lost consciousness.
