Chapter 20

The knife plunged straight toward Rowan, and she let out a piercing scream. Before she could react, Hunter yanked the blade back and stabbed himself. "Somebody! Help!" ... Blake glanced at Hunter, his patience running thin. For two days, Hunter had simply laid there and stared blankly at the ceiling. He had not eaten or spoken nor reacted to anything Blake said. No matter what Blake did or said, Hunter ignored his presence. Frustrated and exhausted, Blake kicked over a chair. He snapped, "Hunter, enough already! The cops have already investigated. She's gone and just vanished. No one knows where she is! Torturing yourself like this won't bring her back! Do you think that lying there will help you find her?" He added, "Let's be real, man. This was your choice. You walked this road yourself. If you really want to fix things, the first step is finding Estrella, right?" Blake was about to keep going when Hunter suddenly sat up. He muttered, "You're right. I need to find her first.
