Chapter 63
Eliza got off the bed and went to the corridor with her phone. Behind her, Grace's mother had furrowed her brows, her face full of concern. Evan, on the other hand, was thoughtfully looking at the door seam, a mysterious gleam slipping through her eyes.
Moving a bit further away, Eliza finally said in a low voice, "You don't need to bother about me. I warn you, stop pestering me."
The phone clicked off at the other end, and Eliza let out a sigh of relief. But as she turned around, she froze: At the entrance of the staircase, Xander was walking towards her. He was donned in a black T-shirt and black casual jeans, one hand holding a phone while the other was tucked into his pocket.
"Pestering you?"
Upon approaching, Xander scoffed. Without explaining himself, he grabbed her wrist, pulling her close to his chest and retorting with great displeasure, "I’m warning you, if you continue to talk to me in this tone, don't blame me for losing my patience.”
