7 Middle of the forest
Aiden POV
I made my way from the dining room to my own room to see Simon, my assistant waiting for me there. Simon was like a brother to me. When I was young about ten years old, my father found him in the woods. His parents were killed by some werewolf hunters and he had managed to flee.
Seeing how he looked, my father took him home. We grew up together in sickness and health, learning how things worked on each of us. After my parents death, I put him as my assistant.
“The border has finally being closed while the court men search for the people behind the death. There was an attack at the Leonard’s Mansion and none of the family members survived except for their little daughter who is no more than ten.” Simon stated.
“Have one of the court men visit the Mansion for investigation tomorrow.” I said and he nodded his head.
“Your highness I have been seeing you frequently with the girl.” Simon decided not to use her name and I knew what he meant.
“You mean, Anna?” I inquired.
“Yes.” He nodded. “I see that you are smitten by her.”
“That is an improper word to be used for the feeling I have for her.” I smiled, knowing how stubborn she was becoming. There were many ways I could make her be lenient towards me but I do not want her to fear the presence of me. That would be the last thing I would want from her. Rather, I would take my precious time and make her fall in love with me.
It was only a matter of time and she would be mine. No matter how much she would try to run away from me, it will only draw me more closer to her.
“But what about her sister. Do you think she would be happy when she finds out?” Simon asked.
“I caught her cheating on me with the same Jack but she didn’t know I was there. She lied about going for a party but was rather going to see the monk. I just need a matter of time to solve everything. Chasing her out of the castle would make Anna leave too. That is the only reason she is still leaving in this house.” I hissed at the end.
“It might spoil your reputation, considering how much people envy to be in your position. Maybe you should take another woman and not—”
When my eyes met him, he quickly stopped talking.
“I apologize if my words had angered you.” He bowed his head slightly.
The next day, the Lycans were invited to have a meeting with me. The Lycans were Werewolf who could half shift in a way that upper part of their body would be in a werewolf form while the lower part would be in their human form. They were stronger, powerful and there was nothing that could challenge them except for the witches and the dwellers.
The dwellers were blue eyed Werewolf and we are great rivals to them. They are the only creatures who could challenge us in a fight.
In this Town, the Lycans were people of upper society. Because the Lycans were the first generation of Werewolves, they could live more than five hundred years before dying. My mother was a werewolf while my father was a Lycan whom I took his personality from.
“Aiden I assume you have been hearing the frequent deaths of people in this village, what do you have to say about it as the King?” One of the men stood up. He was Conner.
“The court house are investigating more on what happened.” I replied.
“The Leonard’s family were found dead and the little girl was not able to speak till now out of shock of seeing her family’s dead body. She have been rushed to the hospital and she is our only hope to tell us what happened to her family until then we know nothing about the killer.” Conner continued.
After the discussion with them, I stood up and walked to the dining room to see Anna. A small smile came to rest on my lips at her presence.

Anna POV
When morning arrived, I took my bath before the maids could enter my room. Wearing my white fluffy gown, I made my way downstairs for breakfast. I sat down alone in the dining room waiting for the maids to serve me food. I took a sip from the glass of water on the table.
After sitting for some time, I heard footsteps. Raising my head up, I saw Aiden enter the dining room with some servants.
He sat down opposite me and soon enough the maids came and serve us food.
“I will be leaving today and would arrive before evening. Feel free to ask from the maids anything you need.” He said.
I nodded my head. “I would also be leaving to get some stuffs in the market.”
“Okay. Make sure to take a guard along with you.” He muttered.
“I am better alone.” I do not want a servant coming with me as the things I would be buying would take a lot of time. Moreover none of the servants would even want to associate themselves with me.
“Okay but be safe.” He said and I nodded.
Once breakfast was over, he stood up and left with the guards. I waited for some time before stepping outside the Mansion, and into the carriage.
As we rode in the carriage with the coachman, all of a sudden the carriage shook terribly. I snap my head to look at the side of the carriage which the wall rip apart.
The carriage began to tumble over and over into the forest until it stopped in front of a huge tree in the middle of the forest. I groaned in pain as my body was upside down in the carriage.
I could feel my head becoming dizzy and my eyes were opening and closing every second. Just then, I saw a man with a pair of blue eyes wearing a black cloak approach the carriage. He brought his hand for me to hold and when I blinked a few times I didn’t see him there. Where did he go? And who was that man? Was the man really here or was I imagining?
Slowly, I managed to open the carriage door and I got myself out of it. I walked to the coachman sit to see that the man was dead with blood gushing out from his chest.
For a moment, shock ran throughout my whole body and I didn’t know what to do. Was I supposed to leave the coachman on the ground and go find help? My heart began to pound so fast.
I closed my eyes and opened them before dragging the man out of the carriage. I checked his pulse to see it was weak and he was breathing slowly.
I shook his body to see if he would wake up but nothing happened. I looked around to see that I was in the middle of the forest.
With no other option left, I decided to run away to look for help. I could not carry the man along with me as he seem to be bigger than me.
I took another step and when I heard the rustle of leaves, my heart skipped a beat.
