6 Provoking

Anna POV Reaching the court house the next day, I carefully stepped out of the carriage. I could see of the court men walking in and out of the council as if there was lots of works to do. Stepping into the building, i saw that it was darker from inside. We walked through the corridor upstairs into a room where some men sat down discussing. When they noticed the presence of the Lycan King, they all stood up and bowed their heads. “Your highness.” They greeted. “Who have you brought here today?” One of the men asked. “This is Anna, an acquaintance of mine.” He smiled. Just then, a man approached us and whispered something into Aiden’s ears. He nodded his head and turned to look at me. “Follow me.” I nodded and walked behind him to the next room. Stepping inside the room, the first thing that greeted me was the smell of dead bodies. Lanterns hung on the walls to light up the room. “Have there been any news lately?” He asked. “No, Your highness.” He shook his head. “But we are working on the body. We are undergoing some test to see what was behind the death.” Aiden walked towards the body which was inside a transparent tub which looks like a coffin. The body had become dried and it carried an awful smell. I could not even look at it twice as it gave me an unpleasant feeling inside me. “I had an encounter with a hunter yesterday.” Aiden spoke to the man. “And you killed him without getting information?” The man asked. “He didn’t say anything and when he tried to attack me I stabbed him multiple times but before he could die, he brought out a small jar and drank the content. Immediately, his body was back to normal and he fled.” He explained. “Can you please tell us what the content looks like?” the man asked. “It was reddish in colour like blood but it wasn’t thick. It was a light liquid.” Aiden replied. “Your highness...... We are still working on the matter and we are hoping for any information. Once we found who the killer is we would not hesitate to report it to you.” The man assured him. “You are doing well, Marcos.” Aiden said, looking at the body. “It is my duty, Your highness.” The man smiled before returning his gaze to the dead body. We returned back to the castle and I was the first to step down not wanting to get into another conversation with the Lycan King. Getting inside my room, I slumped on the bed looking up at the ceiling. When it was night time, the maids came to my room to knock on the door. “I would like my food to be brought here. I do not want to eat downstairs.” I told them. “Milady.” The maid frowned lightly. “His Majesty has asked us to bring you to the dining room to have dinner with him.” “But I will like my dinner here.” I protested, not liking how he was being controlling towards me. Hearing the sound of his footsteps, I adjusted myself and looked up at him. “What is going on here?” He asked in a calm tone. “Your highness...... She does not want to have dinner with you downstairs and would rather—” “Leave!” He ordered the maids before turning to me. “And what are you still doing standing here?” He raised a brow at me. “I do not want to eat there. I would like to have my dinner here.” I replied to him. When he leaned towards me, I took a step backward making him place his hands on my shoulders. “I am the Lycan King and you are to obey my commands. You will do what I want—” I gritted my teeth in anger. “You should stop acting like we are in a relationship or something. I am your sister-in-law and not....” I paused in my words. His lips twitched and he tilted his head to look at me clearly. “Are you now putting the blame on me? Maybe you should ask the moon goddess for giving me you as my mate.” “But I do not want you.” I whispered, pushing his hands from my shoulder. “I want you and my body itch to touch you all the time.” He smiled. “I cannot help myself from thinking about you everyday.” “Get yourself ready. We are having dinner together.” “I do not want to eat again. I’ve lost my appetite.” All I wanted to do right now was to lay on my bed and watch the night sky. “You hadn’t eaten anything today. You are joining me for dinner or.....” He paused and didn’t bother to finish his sentence. Why was he torturing me like this? I felt trap in something I couldn’t get myself out from. Raising my head up, I saw that he was already gone. What was I supposed to do now? I knew that disobeying his orders would result in punishments. I pressed my lips in confusion. After pondering the idea for some time, I decided to go down. Stepping into the dining room, I sat down in one of the chairs. I didn’t even dare to raise my head to look at King Aiden, rather I looked at the table as if it was the most interesting thing ever. When the food arrived, I raised my head to see the different kind of dishes being served at the table making my mouth watered. I took the fork and cut a little from the meat and chewed it slowly. “How do you see the food, delicious isn’t it?” He asked. I turned to look at him and immediately rolled my eyes. When did the Lycan King start acting like this? He does not do this around Katherine? ‘Stop overthinking!’ I scolded myself and took another cut from the meat. After eating to my stomach full, I stood up to leave the dining room. “Where are you going?” His words made me turn around to look at him. “To my room.” I replied, forcing myself not to throw any insults on him. “I am not done eating.” He said. “Am I supposed to—” “You are supposed to wait until I am done. Leaving the dining room before the King is considered rude.” He commented. “Stay a little longer. I like you around me, it brightens my mood.” He picked the glass of fruit juice and took a sip from it. When he finished eating his food, I was eager to go to my room. I bowed my head slightly and turned around to leave to hear him speak. “Don’t you think you are too much in a hurry?” “It is already late at night, Your highness. Good night.” Before I could take a step forward, I felt his hand touched by shoulder from behind. “Not too soon.” He muttered, his breath falling on my shoulder. I turned around to see the serious expression on his face. He stretched his hand out waiting for me to place my hand on top of his. Knowing fully that he would not let me leave until he finally got what he wanted, I placed my hand on his palm to see what he was up to. He bent his body slightly and placed a small kiss at the back of my hand. “You say thank you after having dinner with the King, or do you expect me to be the one greeting you?” He asked. I looked at him before bowing my head. My throat gulped down before I opened my mouth to speak. “Thank you for the food. It was a wonderful meal.” Seeing him step away, I breathed in relief. “Good night, Anna.” He took another step before turning around and he walked away. I placed my hand on one of the chairs and took a glass of water. Once my breathing was normal, I went to my room.
