11 Witch
Anna POV
“Hmm......” He wiped his mouth with the handkerchief and stood up to leave.
That night, I couldn’t sleep in my room. After turning to different sides in the bed and wasn’t asleep yet, I stood up and walked to the window. I placed my hands at the edge of the window while staring at the night sky. The whether of the Hawkins village was dark and beautiful. It was a cold night were I had to wrap the blanket around my shoulders.
Remembering what had happened earlier this afternoon, I couldn’t get the thought out of my head. I was sure to have seen the flower resurrect and whither again.
My eyes roamed around the vast land when I caught sight of a person walking past the gates of the castle. I recognized the person quickly to be King Aiden but what was he doing outside the castle at this time of the night?
As if noticing my gaze on him, he paused in his footsteps and turned around to look at me. For a moment, it felt as if the time stopped moving and we continued to stare at each other.
Without speaking a word, he averted his gaze back to the road and be walked through the quiet road. Where was he going to?
.......
Aiden POV
Stepping out of the castle at night, I made my way through the quiet road to an old house. I knocked slightly on the door and a woman in her late thirties came out.
Upon seeing me, she smiled before opening the door wide and I stepped in.
“Hazel.” I called out.
“Welcome King Aiden.” She bowed her head.
“Where is it?” I asked, looking for what I came here for.
“Unfortunately, the ministers bound people from selling some of the ingredients so i wasn’t able to make one.” She said with a sad expression.
Upon hearing her, my lips twitched. How was I supposed to cope with the infection in my heart spreading everywhere?
I felt a pounding headache in my head and I sat down immediately while resting my back on the chair.
My mind soon wandered back to how I got the infection.
It was a sunny day when I was about fifteen years old at that time and my wolf had awakened then. My parents had successfully signed the arranged marriage between me and Maya. She was about ten years old and my parents wanted us to get married when we grew up.
I never liked the girl at first but when she started to bring some strange books along with her, I became very fond of her.
But unknown to me, she was only using me to set up her wicked plot. She was not a child and it was all planned to kill my parents and take over the village. She was a witch who had used potions to make herself become a small child.
I became really interested in the books she was giving me and would spend 24 hours of my day reading it.
“Son is the book that interesting that you would forget coming downstairs for lunch and dinner?” My mother asked me one day.
I smiled at her and turned my gaze back to the book but she frowned at how disrespectful I was.
“Son!” She yelled. “Give me that book!”
She stretched her hand to reach for the booked but I blocked her with my hand.
“You are not taking it, mom.” I said in my usual calm tone.
“Give me that book or else I will burn it in the fire!” She threatened me for but for some odd reasons, I didn’t feel threatened by her words.
“No!” I retorted in the same tone. “I am not giving you the book!”
Just then, her eyes widened. “What is happening to your eyes? Why are there having black lines under it? Is it the book that is causing this to happen to you? Now give me the book!”
She tried to take the book again but this time, I pushed her and she fell off the stairs. The worst nightmare I never imagined to happen came to me. She was hurried to the hospital but she died sadly.
When my father took me to see her body during her burial, a single tear didn’t fell from my eyes and I was happy that she died.
Maya continued seeing me with different books and I was excited. My father didn’t put the blame on me as I had lied that she stumbled on her footsteps and fell down.
I was even happy that she died as I would have more privacy to myself and Maya. When I heard the news that Maya’s parents was killed by some werewolf hunters, I pleaded with my father that she should stay with us and he agreed.
I became distant to Simon and began to act strange. I began to sense something beyond being a Lycan. I never fit into any of the children who came to play with me. Sometimes, I fought a lot with Simon after he argued that I played with him and not Maya.
She was the only person I became comfortable with and could talk to. But I never knew my actions was only ruining my future.
Slowly, I grew some kind of hatred towards everyone. Whenever my father came to speak with me, I would walk out on him. Simon told my father that it was Maya who was controlling my mind but he didn’t believe it because she was too innocent to do such.
She thought me how to kill and hunt for Werewolves. She explained to me that Lycans like me weren’t supposed to feed on normal food but on the body of a werewolf. One day, she took me to the middle of the forest and made me eat the body of a werewolf. The minute I tasted the heart, I wanted more. She killed more Werewolf and gave their hearts to me. I was surprised at the kind of powers she had and when I asked how she managed to kill them, she laughed it off and walked away.
In the middle of the night, I decided to sneak into Maya’s room to see her. As I walked closer to her room door, I began to hear whispers coming from the room door.
“Maya I do not understand your sudden urge to always be around that boy, Aiden. Don’t you think it would ruin our plan?” I heard a voice which I recognized to be Maya’s mother voice. Wasn’t she dead?
I thought she was dead. I went to the burial with Maya who cried throughout the whole day. Now I was surprised to hear her voice.
“No mother, my first plan when I came here was to kill the whole family and take over but now I don’t know what is happening to me but I do not want to kill Aiden. Instead I will kill his father. I already prepared potions to kill his father and everything is under process. Mother with time we witches would take over and claim back what belongs to us. This town belongs to us and we would take it back.” She assured.
My eyes became widened with shock. She wanted to kill my father? Why?
“But I am worried for the boy. He is too smart and one day he might expose—"
“Mother I have been giving him my blood to drink so most of his memories were wiped out without him knowing. I tampered with some of his memories. Moreover I have plans for him.” She chuckled.
“Plans? What plans?” The woman asked.
“I want him to become one of us. I want him not as a Lycan but a witch.” She smiled.
I was confused. Maya had being a witch all this time and she claimed to be innocent. And wait...... She claimed to have tampered with my memories.
“How will you manage to do that?” The woman asked.
“My blood. I give him some of my blood to drink at night and he is slowly becoming a witch.” Maya replied.
“How do you know if it would work?” The woman asked.
“I am already seeing signs on his chest and back. I could see some scaly black skins which are peeling off. With time he would be a witch.” She muttered.
At this time, my blood was already boiling with anger. I wanted to open the door and budge in but I wanted to hear more information.
“What about the father?” The woman asked.
“I already compelled a maid to put something in his drink. He would be dead by now and we would take over.” She chuckled.
Dead? She wanted to kill my father?
With so much force, I opened the door and I was stunned to see Maya in an adult body. She was about eighteen years of age.
“You!” I gritted my teeth in anger. “How dare you!”
