10 Weekend visit
Anna POV
I had never seen something like this happened in my whole life. I stared at the flower in my hand with shock.
“What’s going on?” I heard Aiden’s voice and I turned around to look at him.
“Why did the flower turn dead in my hand? It was healthy a while ago.” I asked.
“Go to your room. It’s going to rain anytime soon.” Without waiting for my response, he stood up and left. I looked up at the sky and saw that it would rain soon. I turned around to leave when I heard my name being called. Looking back, I saw Hannah walking towards me.
“Milady.” She called out.
“We have guest. Your aunt is here.” She stood close to me and I saw the carriage ride through the gates.
Why didn’t aunt Elizabeth write me a letter before coming here? I clasped my hand at the sides of my gown before walking forward to greet her.
“Anna it is good to see you. You look more beautiful. It is obvious that Katherine have been taking good care of you. Where is she?” Aunt Elizabeth asked, patting my back.
She was wearing a black tiger robe and her hair was tied into a ponytail. Her face was fair in complexion and she had thin curved lips.
I wasn’t fond of my extended family members and seeing my aunt here without her writing a letter to me, made me frown. I walked inside the castle to the library and we sat down there.
“Welcome, Aunt Elizabeth. I’ve truly missed you.” I said even though it was all a lie. “Katherine traveled out of the town for a birthday party.”
“Anna it has been a long time since I’ve seen you. It is up to two months now. And you didn’t tell me about Katherine’s wedding.” She frowned at the end.
“Katherine didn’t invite you for her wedding?” I asked.
“She didn’t.” She replied in a dramatic way. “I was more surprised to hear the wedding ceremony was cancelled by the Lycan King.”
“Yes..... Uhm. It is complicated.” It was now I knew why she came here. She came to confirm from me if what she heard was true. She never liked Katherine and I since we were kids. When my parents were still alive, she never visits us. It was until she died that she came so she could claim the only house my parents left behind to herself. Even though she was rich, she wanted more wealth for herself.
“How is she now?” Aunt Elizabeth continued to ask.
“She is fine.” I answered her.
“I don’t think the King would want to associate himself with Katherine again after what happened. I mean why would she be having an affair with that man. Does King Aiden still allows you two to live here?” When my eyes met my aunt, I faked a smile.
“If you think they are having a misunderstanding then you are wrong. Katherine and King Aiden are in good terms.” I said to clear off the matter Aunt Elizabeth was trying to draw from me. I glared at her in a hard way.
“Your mother was really bad in taking training the both of you. Don’t you see your cousin, Maggie? Aren’t you seeing how well behaved she is. Darling, you don’t speak to an Elder in that tone.” If Aunt Elizabeth could, she would have smacked me but she was holding herself because of the guards stationed outside.
“I will have a governess assigned to you here tomorrow.” Aunt Elizabeth smiled warmly at me.
“Aunt Elizabeth, thank you for your care but I do not need a governess. I can take care of myself.” Just then, the door opened and a maid came in with a tray of tea. She handed the tea to Aunt Elizabeth.
I didn’t even know why I was still allowing this woman visit me every time. Families were meant to be living happily and comfortably but in my aunt’s case, it is different.
She was always known in showing off her wealth and the number of children she has. And worst, she was really annoying.
“Make sure you don’t get that mouth if yours in trouble one day. It would be a shame if no man would want to marry because of how you speak.” She taunted.
I remained silent and chose not to say anything to her. After a few minutes of an awkward silence, Aunt Elizabeth stood up.
“I would be taking my leave now. Make sure to take care of yourself and do not stress your body.” She smiled and patted my shoulder.
Sometimes I wondered why she was so prideful and always looking down on people. It was not as if she was a Lycan to be this proud. She was a werewolf who acts so pompous.
I stood up to escort her to her carriage outside the castle. I continued to listen to her speak on the number of Mansions she now owns. Aunt Elizabeth values people who come from a wealthy family. She treat the rich people with respect and look down at the poor just the same way the Lycans treats the werewolf.
Since they were the first Werewolf in history, they often look down on the werewolf like as if they were grain of sand. There were some reports on the past on how the Lycans feed on Werewolves. They were carnival creatures and I was not surprised about it but knowing full that Aiden was one of them, I wondered if he would eat me up one day.
“Your Uncle has been longing to see you now. It has been up to six months since the last time you met him. He would be excited to see you. Why don’t you come for a visit this weekend?” She asked.
She wants me to go so he would try to touch me the way he did the other time.
“If I have the chance I will come this weekend, Aunt Elizabeth.” I replied sweetly, not wanting to anger her.
I plastered a fake smile on my face as I watched Aunt Elizabeth rode off with her carriage. Once her carriage was out of sight, the smile on my face fell.
Going to the dining room for lunch, I was greeted at the sight of King Aiden sitting there. I took cautious steps towards the dining room and I sat down opposite him. As I looked down at the food in the table, I could feel his cold eyes on me.
“How was the visit of your aunt here?” I heard his voice.
Raising my head up, I met his red eyes which looked back at me as he chewed on the food in his mouth.
“Good.” I replied and turned my gaze back to the food.
“Don’t you have somewhere to go instead of staying indoors everyday?” At this, I raised my head up.
“No. I am better off alone.” I replied.
One would have thought that the Lycan King acts more matured and well behaved. The man would do anything to infuriate and make me get angry. I wondered when it all started and then I remembered the night of the wedding ceremony. It was the night he professed his feelings to me.
“Thinking about me?” I heard him ask. I had almost forgotten that he actually reads people thought.
“Why would I be thinking of you when I have other things to do with my brains.” I said in a polite tone, not to anger him. At this, a small smile rested on his lips.
