Chapter 9 Game Over

The door handle of the room was turned from the outside, making a crisp "click" in the quiet night. At the sound, both Ethan and Vivian on the bed opened their eyes simultaneously! But neither of them moved. After all, one was a "vegetative state" patient, the other a "simpleton"; theoretically, neither should have had such a sharp reaction. … Tyler successfully entered the bedroom. He hadn't been back in the country for more than a year, and his previous flings were all foreign women, but he always felt something was missing. This problem had been bothering him for a long time, but he couldn't figure out the root cause until he saw Vivian today. He had a sudden epiphany. It turned out that what he had always truly desired were women from his homeland. He just couldn't get used to foreign women. Ever since he left the Swain's today, he had been restless. Vivian's stunning face was stuck in his mind. Even though he knew she was a simpleton, he swore he had to have this woman! So tonight, he sneaked over. Turning on the bedside lamp, Tyler reached out eagerly. Stroking Vivian's face, Tyler lavished her with praise. "How did you end up so stunning? Despite being a simpleton, your curves are in all the right places, making you quite irresistible." As he spoke, Tyler audaciously lifted the covers from Vivian's body, his eyes roaming freely across her form. "Even though you're a simpleton, marrying Ethan would be beneath you. He's vegetative, incapable of making you a happy woman. But I can." "Ugh... it's too bright," she protested, disgusted. Even with her eyes closed, she could feel the lewd gaze of Tyler. To think he had the audacity to touch her! Rubbing her eyes, Vivian sat upright, skillfully avoiding Tyler's wandering hands. "Who are you? Why are you in my room? Where's Jean? Jean!" Clutching the blanket to herself, she moved back, attempting to call out for Jean. "Stop your shouting, even if you scream your lungs out, no one will hear. Ethan's overly suspicious, his door is soundproof. Even if I were to have my way with you right here and now, no one would hear your cries! Come here, my little simpleton," Tyler goaded, reaching for Vivian's leg. Pretending to resist, Vivian glanced at Ethan. The commotion was loud enough to awaken the dead, and Ethan wasn't truly vegetative. He was clearly feigning his condition to avoid revealing his true state in front of Tyler. What should she do now? Wake him up, or give this repulsive Tyler a good kick? But if she were to reveal her true strength, wouldn't that blow her cover? Weighing her options, Vivian ultimately decided to sacrifice Ethan. After all, she couldn't allow her plan to be disrupted. As for Ethan's plan, it was none of her business. "Mr. Handsome, wake up!" she pleaded, pretending to struggle against Tyler, she turned and started to shake the feigning asleep Ethan vigorously. "The bad man is trying to get me, Mr. Handsome. Wake up, fight him off! I'm so scared!" Vivian cried out in faux distress. "What good is begging a vegetable going to do you!" Tyler laughed, pulling Vivian towards him. With a swift motion, he tore Vivian's pink Peppa Pig pajamas, revealing her flawless, porcelain shoulder. "No, don't ruin Peppa, it's my favorite! Go away, bad man! Go away! I'll kill you, I swear I will!" "Ha! Come at me then. Your wimpy strength is squat, not even enough to make me flinch." The sound of fabric tearing filled the room again as Tyler dragged Vivian onto the floor. Her cries and shouts were like a flurry of arrows, coming from all directions, piercing straight into Ethan's heart! Ethan lay in bed with his eyes tightly shut, the veins on his forehead bulging, his fists clenched under the blanket. Damn it, damn Tyler! How dare he insult his wife in front of him! Did he not value his life anymore? "Ahh, get your filthy mouth away from me! Mr. Handsome, save me! I'm so scared!" Finally, when Vivian's voice rang out again, Ethan couldn't pretend anymore. No man could tolerate it! No one could bear to see his wife being insulted in front of them! Even if his wife was a simpleton! Tyler finally got to taste the woman he had been craving all day. Her skin was indeed smooth and tender, better than any woman he had ever been with! But just as he was about to press down further, a shadow suddenly fell over him. Before he could react, he was kicked to the ground. "Ethan?!" Recognizing the face, Tyler turned ghostly pale, "You're awake?" A violent energy emanated from Ethan as he clenched his fists, "You're courting death!" As soon as Ethan finished speaking, his fists came crashing down on Tyler like a monsoon. Tyler was no match for Ethan and started begging for mercy within moments. Ethan didn’t want to beat him to pulp, but the mere memory of little simpleton’s heart-wrenching cries made him lose control over his fists. Finally, Tyler passed out cold. Ethan then turned his attention back to Vivian. “Don’t, don’t touch me,” pleaded the pitiful Vivian, cowered in a corner, her eyes filled with terror. She was hugging herself tight, her pajamas hanging in tatters, and a hand mark was visible on her neck. Seeing little simpleton in such a state, Ethan was consumed by regret. He shouldn't have feigned sleep so long. He should have kicked Tyler out the moment he stepped in. “Vivian, it’s me, it’s Mr. Handsome. Can I check on you?” "No,” Vivian’s eyes welled up with tears as she shook her head, “I called for Mr. Handsome, but Mr. Handsome didn't wake up. Mr. Handsome is a bad brother. He didn't want to protect Vivian, so he didn't wake up.” “No, Vivian, I…” He wanted to argue that he didn’t mean it, but upon reflection, wasn't that exactly what he had done? Because he didn’t want Tyler to realize he was pretending to be a vegetable, he hesitated. And due to his hesitation, little simpleton got hurt. Vivian sobbed even harder, “Is it because I called Mr. Handsome, people found out Mr. Handsome could wake up, so Mr. Handsome hates Vivian and doesn't want to save Vivian?” “No!” Ethan realized he was completely defenseless against this little simpleton's tears. Watching her shivering and crying, his heart twisted in pain. Unable to bear this heart-wrenching sensation, he reached out and gathered little simpleton into his arms, hugging her tight as if she were the most precious thing in the world, "There, there, Vivian. The game's over, we're not playing anymore. From now on, I won't let anyone bully you." An hour later, a pair of luxury cars pulled up to Ethan’s mansion, one after the other...
