Chapter 10 Longing to See Little Simpleton

Two vehicles pulled up, one belonging to Kaysen, the other to Clive Benton, Uncle of the Benton family. They arrived under the cloak of midnight, drawn by the same urgent summons - a personal call from Ethan himself. Hearing Ethan's voice, Kaysen was so overjoyed he could hardly hold back the tears. Clive, on the other hand, the biological father of Tyler, wasn't quite as thrilled, especially when he learned that his beloved son was in Ethan's hands. Kaysen was taken aback when he spotted his second son hurriedly approaching as he stepped out of his car. "Clive? What brings you here?" he asked. "Dad, Ethan called me. He said he's got Tyler. And judging by his tone, it doesn't sound like it's anything good," Clive replied. "When did Tyler get back? Hasn't he been abroad? What kind of mess has he gotten himself into now?" Kaysen's face darkened at the mention of his grandson. "Dad, he just got back. What kind of trouble could he possibly have stirred up? Besides, other than Ethan, who else could give him a hard time?" Clive retorted. "What are you implying? Don't give me that attitude! I'll have you know, Ethan waking up is a blessing, the most important thing for the Benton family right now! Don't bother me with any other nonsense!" Kaysen snapped. "But Dad, Tyler is your grandson too. Isn't his situation important?" Clive was bitterly resentful of his father's favoritism. But Kaysen simply couldn't bring himself to care for Tyler. Compared to his eldest, he was less fond of Clive, his second son. Ignoring Clive's words, Kaysen walked off towards the mansion. Watching Kaysen's retreating figure, a ruthless glint flashed in Clive's eyes. He thought back to the time when Ethan had been in a car accident and regretted not pulling the plug on his oxygen. He didn't expect Ethan to have such a strong will to live. Inside the mansion, Kaysen, choked with emotion, walked alongside Ethan, who had regained his mobility, his eyes brimming with tears. "Tyler!" Clive Benton rushed to the couch, as his gaze fell on his son's battered face, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. His anger was near the boiling point. "Dad, you're here. Save me, take me away." "Ethan! What exactly did you do to Tyler? Did you beat him up like this?!" "What are you yelling for? You think I don't exist?" Kaysen turned around, shooting Clive a fierce glare. "Dad, are your eyes only for Ethan, your eldest grandson? Look at Tyler, see what he's been beaten into. I refuse to believe in this mansion anyone else besides Ethan would dare lay a hand on Tyler!" Kaysen had always favored his eldest grandson Ethan. He had indeed not noticed Tyler lying on the couch when he first came in. But now, after being yelled at by Clive, he finally took a closer look. "Ahem..." Tyler indeed seemed badly injured. Kaysen cleared his throat, then casually asked Ethan. "Ethan, tell Grandpa and your uncle what exactly happened here? How did your cousin end up getting beaten up at your place in the middle of the night?" "Dad, what kind of question is that? What does 'end up getting beaten up here' mean?" "Uncle, don't get angry yet. Grandpa is absolutely right. He was asking for it!" Ethan smirked. He turned to Brevard, "Bring out the evidence for them to see." "Sure thing!" Brevard connected his laptop to the living room TV. Before long, a shadowy figure appeared on the large TV screen. The figure sneaked into Ethan's bedroom, crept to his bedside, turned on the lamp, and started to indecently harass Vivian... hat person was Tyler. Everything Tyler had said in Ethan's bedroom to mock and insult Ethan had been recorded and was now being made public. Of course, the footage of Ethan beating up Tyler was not shown. Kaysen's face darkened instantly. "Clive Benton, is this the son you've raised? Sneaking into his sister-in-law's room in the middle of the night, he deserved to be punished." "This is all a conspiracy. Who would install a camera in their own room?" "Uncle Benton, allow me to explain on behalf of Ethan," Brevard intervened, "The camera was installed to monitor his condition." "But what I didn't expect was that Tyler would take advantage of his brother's coma to assault his wife and the lady is completely innocent." "That's enough!" Kaysen could take no more, "Clive Benton, take your damned son and leave. Once he recovers, he can come back and apologize to his brother and sister-in-law." "Dad," Tyler, whose ribs had been broken by Ethan, felt like he was on the verge of death, "Save me, get me to the hospital." Clive, heart aching for his son, prepared to take him to the doctor. But Ethan stopped him. "Wait a moment, Uncle and brother shouldn't be in such a hurry to leave. There's someone familiar here who wants to see you. Jean, bring her in." Soon, Jean brought in a maid. The moment the maid saw Clive, she fell to her knees, clinging to his leg and pleading, "Master, save me, I don't want to go to jail. I only took your money to do your bidding. I didn't dare not open the door when the young master ordered." "Shut up! I don't even know you!" Kaysen, with his sharp eyes, saw through this petty trick instantly. "Well, Clive Benton, you even planted a spy by Ethan's side. What exactly are you plotting?" Clive Benton wanted to argue, but the maid clung to him like a lifeline, refusing to let go. Ethan sneered, "Uncle, you were the one who pushed things this far, so don't blame me for being rude." "I heard that during my coma, you turned the company into a mess. Now that I'm awake, you should step aside. Grandpa, what do you think?" "I agree. I'll call a board meeting tomorrow." "Better lock up Tyler too. I'm still a bit weak and I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night to see him." "Clive, you heard it. This is how it will be. Tyler won't go anywhere for a while." Clive was seething. His precious son was hurt this badly, how could he go anywhere? All this was settled in just twenty minutes. Kaysen thought his grandson was just recovering and lacked energy. But in reality. Ethan was eager to see Little Simpleton. He missed her, wanted to look into her eyes and comfort her, to apologize to her. However, when he returned to his room, he found…
