CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO
Ruby stood awkwardly glued to her spot. Noah remained by the door, still seething as a result of Aiden's threat to him and his pack. Isaac and the Elders stood quietly, too.
Silence hung like a blanket, and impending turmoil grew, making the air brittle. Ruby could feel the fear build up in her chest, suffocating her. How had things gotten from bad to worse? She thought as she tried taking in air into her starved lungs. Her wolf remained calm, urging her to follow suit—while telling her that Aiden's threat should not be taken seriously, as he was a coward. But worry still bubbled in the pit of her stomach. The adrenaline that had fueled her to stand up to Aiden sizzled away, making her whole form shake.
No one said a word minutes after Aiden, his goon, and her father had left, but the weight of their presence still remained—not dipping Noah and his people in fear, but deeper in their thoughts as they processed what had happened in just a short amount of time.
